Forums - Sony - Its OFFICIAL ~~ Hideo Kojima THINKING bout making MGS5 Himself!!

good to hear the man himself will do it just keep it in the playstation family

To me it's not Metal Gear without him. I also do wish that you would use the codec more for jokes and info like in MGS2 and 3. Not really to tell the story like it pretty much was on MGS1. MGS4 took the codec's fun out all together and focus more on just story... it's great but I still miss the codec. Heck if the game was 7 hours of cutscene, 15 hours of gameplay and 4 hours of bonus codec fun that would be awesome.

Needs to be set in one of two ways:

Completely unrelated to all the games so far.

or

Set in the early 80s and starring Big Boss since MGS4 made a massive cluster fuck of retcons and continuity problems during this period of time.

alright I think you are going a little overboard with that statement.  How much justice to the Metal Gear storyline could the game being set in the 80's with Big Boss do? overall not much... same with Raiden in 2010 - 2013...in my opinion Kojima needs to a remake of the MG and MG2 storyline since that storyline had a big role in MGS4 and needs to be redeveloped to fit MGS4's storyline

Personally, I'd like somebody else to take the reins. MGS5 needs an overhaul that I don't think Kojima will be willing to provide. Is it really too much to ask that I be able to actually play more of the game? I mean for fuck's sake, there was at least an hour of cutscenes that could have easily been playable.

Also bring back the CODEC!

gahhh u totally mis understood the point in the game. it was ment to be a playable movie, hard to explain but ill try. kojima tried to make the perfect blend between movie and game to make the player feel satisfied. I think it would have been better for shorter cut scenes, but hey, it raised a lot of debate on it, which helped it out a lot.

also, i think it will be about RAIDEN. that'd be so sick, then again i will miss good old "Erect cock" quote from angry video game nerd

Maybe now he will make a good game and not an incredibly shitty movie with some good gameplay in between.

I want to attack you so bad for that comment, but ill be the better man in this and withdrawl with a simple comment based upon my own opinion.

Metal Gear Solid 4 was in and is in essence the best game I have ever played, and was and is nothing short of a masterpiece that will go down in gaming history as so.

I honestly hope it doesn't go as anything other than proof why too many cutscenes and abition of movies can compeltely ruin a video game experience. I've aid this comparison better. Cutscenes in MGS4 - 10 hours-ish, Amount of time it took to reaad through Watchmen - 8 hours-ish. Given that I feel like MGS4's cutscenes lasted about 8-9 hours longer than they should have and could have easily been cut and the game would have been a lot better for it. Gameplay was pretty cool though, whenever I actually did get to play.

I believe the series was made to create a stealth-action game, which is another thing I'd like for them to bring back in the fifth one. There was a fantastic lack of stealth in MGS4.

Which difficulty did you play the game? Just wondering. ;)

Random game thought :
Why is Bionic Commando Rearmed 2 getting so much hate? We finally get a real game and they're not even satisfied... I'm starting to hate the gaming community so f****** much...

Whatever the default was. Does the AI behave differently in harder difficulties? I just noticed a few things that I didn't like because of how little stealth was involved, such as the scenes where you did the fire fights in Act 2 with the rebels, the little mechanical critter balls with three legs that even if they spotted you didn't matter since they didn't alert anything and you could just roll through them to the next door, the complete lack of security cameras, the motorcycle gun battle with the ravens, the turret section in Act 2 on top of Drebin's vehicle, the first fight with the Frogs in Act 1, the battle with the Geckos in Act 4 as Raiden and Vamp fight in horizontal splitscreen, and the Ray barrage against the Geckos heading out to fight Rex near the end of Act 4. I don't have any issues with them all individually, it's the collection of so many sections of the game not involving stealth that gets on my nerves.

The Metal Gear Solid 5 I would like would be based mostly off the awesomeness of Act 1. The cutscenes were good but relatively short, the gameplay was long, and 90% of the Act revolved around stealth.

Not every game has to be exactly the same ratio of stealth. The tagline for the game was "no place to hide."  There was plenty of stealth in all acts.  Try the harder difficulties.  Not having to use stealth on the easier settings doesn't mean it's not available for you to use.  I can blast my way through any MGS once I learn it.
