Awesome game.
Its still *easily* my favourite game from last-generation. Its just an incredibly awesome game.
I love the 'train' chapter - every time I thought I had the game worked out, it was like it read my mind: and the game turned itself upside down.
Pure gaming goodness, can't be beat :)

This brings back great memories, but a very bad one as well. Hard to believe but it happened to me.
I made it to the end of the pit of 100 trials, was facing the final boss and both him and me were 1 hit away from dying and I had no more items, I made it there by miracle. It was my turn, I had Goombella with me and it was her turn to attack. Instead of pressing the attack button I pressed the tattle button (the ability she has to unveil enemy information) and holy crap, the enemy had his chance to destroy me now, and he did.
It was one of the most frustrating moments in videogaming for me, I even smashed the GC controller against the wall, because it's a long journey and you can't save. Didn't play for months after that, but then I eventually came back, this time better equiped I managed to beat it on my first try.
Sad story.

Pandora's Tower will have an opening week of less than 37k in Japan. (Won!)
Pandora's Tower will sell less than 100k lifetime in Japan.
Stakes: 1 week of avatar control for each one.

How was it your first try if you had already gone there and been defeated already?
First try after I came back after months :O, that's what I said.
Learnt the lesson, never go inside there without purely recovery items. Didn't use them all, but at least you are safe. Some enemies drop small recovery items.

Yeah. I always ran around most of the 2nd half of the game with the coin/item/heart/flower finder badges so after every fight I usually found more than enough of everything to keep going. Going into a battle with anything less than full HP/FP was very risky IMO.
That part of the game didn't fool me. I always know if the boss is too easy there's another.
I need to get this game again.
But after you knew the entire 100 levels, it was much easier. First time is a mistery, you don't know what you are gonna find down there. Those heart/flower badges were essential.

It was one of my favourite GameCube games alongside Resident Evil 4 and Super Mario Sunshine. The story was great, the gameplay was awesome and it kept making me come back for more and more.
Super Paper Mario isn't in the same league unfortunately however it's still a very good quality game.
This reminds me, I need to get my son (age 6) playing this again. That's where we are stopped -- right at the plot twist of Chapter 4.
This just goes to show that E-rated games can be for "mature" gamers. Nintendo to me is like Bullwinkle or Peanuts. They appear to be for kids -- but once you look at the context and the subtext, you realize what a deep tapestry is really there. Far richer than what is found on many M-rated games.
