Forums - Nintendo - FF:TCB Wii ~*~ DETAILS BLOWOUT! (60% COMPLETED, no leveling up & MORE)!!

What's with this sudden "no leveling up" system going on with final fantasies?

Around the Network

I never played CC games, and didn't know what this one was about. So, no idea about why.

Random battles = oldschool, me no likey, so this game = win in that respect.

Experience and leveling up are not the only defining characteristic of being an RPG. Look it up.

The game is an RPG. It's simply not 100% based on traditional game mechanics.

After reading this thread and the one about FFXIII not having leveling, mp etc...:
My...God...Some people are irritating...so just because this game can't be called an RPG anymore (in their opinion) it means they have lost interest? Is the genre more important than the actual game?

And it seems to me that some have their own definition on what an RPG is...since when is RPG = leveling up? Isn't it more about shaping your character by the decisions you make throughout the game?
If we should strictly compare JRPGs to "real" RPGs (pen-paper roleplaying) then most games would fail.

Personally, these news about both TCB and FFXIII has increased my interest in both of them. I think it's good that SE tries new things.

It's an action RPG. Why is this so difficult to understand?

For all posters arguing about this not an RPG. The first RPG's had no level-systems systems and stat increases were only based on items so please stop this argument. You have to remember that first rpg were western based and played alot like a wrpg. This game being a JRPG or not is a different story altogether so I won't comment on that.

I love fighting games !!! Come on challenge me !

I hope it comes this fall, but I´m afraid we won´t see it until next year.

sweet sounds awesome

glad to see it ain't like the gamecube games that seemed like you had to have 4 peopl to play the game. thats what made me not buy them, they seemed like they made the game require you to play with others.

always hard to find someone to play an RPG with you for endless hours

i loved that level on the original wher eu had ti kill all the chefs, it was awesome
