Forums - Gaming - Was FFXIII ever announced as exclusive?

I personally do not remember FFXIII ever being announced "PS3 only" and the earliest video of FFXIII is at E3 where it says "For PS3" but no exclusive. A year ago I was in the same position where I could not find a trailer saying the game was exclusive and posted a thread about how FFXIII would go on 360.....indeed I was ripped a new one. The thread consisted of me saying FFXIII would go on 360 and Versus would remain exclusive, looks like I was right and have no say I did not even bother using my time machine.

Just very confused here, I think we're going to be in the same situation where everyone assumed FFXIII was PS3 exclusive with MGS5 when that is announced multi-plat. The pop corn and drinks will be out at E3 and I will enjoy the meltdowns, hopefully another infamous youtube video from that guy. :P

FF13 was announce by S-E as ps3 exclusive till they bitch slap the whole lot of ppl who bought ps3 just to play it when they announced it on E3 as multiplat and I also don't trust 3rd party exclusives they only stay exclusive as long as it has a contract with companys then after that BAM!!! multiplat release confirmed and theres a lot of good examples I can give including ff13,bioshock,Tales of vesperia, ES, NG2 and soon a possibility of mgs5 LP2 and ME2.

Nope still don't remember the game being announced as PS3 exclusive by SE, it was announced for the console but not an exclusive. Assumptions are simply terrible, especially when doing so in the gaming industry where wording is so well crafted by PR marketing.

If you don't see the word "exclusive" you're in trouble. MGS5, LP2, ME2 will all be multi-plat.

I have a E3 2005 and 2006 Sony conferences vids at my computer.

At 2005 Wada was at the stage, presented FFVII tech demo and said that Square-Enix is going to support the PS3 and bring the Final Fantasy to the platform. At 2006 Kaz just showed up, said that the game will be available in "multiple versions" (referring to Versus, that statement didnt make any sense actually) and then there was a trailer.

So I think it hasnt ever been announced as an exclusive at any major event. However, every time Nomura was asked in an interview about the PS3 exclusivity he replied "Of course".

No never... Sony was in discussion of getting FFXIII exclusive in march 2007
"Finally, for Final Fantasy XIII, I can tell you that exclusivity is being discussed."

so the trailers showed for playstation 3 at the time... but it seems that the talks were not good for SE and they went multiplatform...

So it seems it has nothing to do with Microsoft moneyhatting FFXIII but SONY NOT moneyhatting it.. Sony had their chance but they didn't take it...

The chances are that FFXIII Versus will follow the path of FFXIII and it could be announced as coming to X360 at an upcoming gaming Expo in the near future. ZOMG: FFXIII Versus goes multi-plat at E3 09'

He sure as well made sure people knew where his game was going to go though, literally 2 weeks later on Famitsu he said "I am the director of Versus and decide where the game goes, it will remain PS3 exclusive." Soon after there was that party SE had for all his games and since then with every video it seems he is making sure SE and Sony know where his game will go.

Does he have that kind of power at SE? Fuck yeah chubby does!

I don't know the reason behind Vesus staying exclusive but my guess is Nomura + moneyhatting. SE were probably asking for a huge amount to keep FFXIII exclusive, Sony secured exclusivity where it mattered and Versus........then left.

Why is this EVEN a question

ofcourse FF13 was announced as an exclusive!

SONY even said "we are disappointed in S-E" after last E3's FF13 Xbox 360 annnouncement.....that statement from SONY alone proves AT SOME POINT FF13 was for PS3 only

^ this what i also know...

and what i read on the internet, Sony agreed for the FFXIII to be release multiplat(of course, Sony still gain money on this agreement)...

But what really entice me, why would Sony agree for the game of that caliber to be multiplat... maybe Sony did have a chance to secure the exclusivity of other SE games... FF versus XIII? anyone?

but lets confirm it on E3
