What do you mean by "not the best place to start" ? The only other rpg i have played is fable, which is not a Jrpg.
Due to my hate for RPGs I have not bought the much hyped Valkyria Chronicles, which may Sony fans (especially outlawauron) are going nuts over.

13 by a country mile. I know Versus should be awesome like all FF's. How will Versus link to 13 storywise anyone? Will we see these characters in the background of the story or is it completely seperate?

I meant that ffx-2 is not the best JRPG/ff game to lauch one's interest. It is rated mediocre by even die hard ff fans. I find it above average though. My first ff title was ff8 but I'll advice any newcomer to try ffx first.

Don't even bother with VC, I don't think you'll like it.

Yeah, god forbid someone has a different taste in games and thus have a different opinion than you.
That can't happen right? What you like everyone else likes, let's all point and call him a biased fanboy.

Much prefer FFXIII but I always prefered the Main FF over KH games.

cool then.. looks like i'll buy myself FFX to kickstart my RPG habits. ( Crap, my PS2 broke 2 weeks ago and my PS3 is non-B/C). maybe i'll just wait till XIII.

Each are good in their own way. After seeing the Final Fantasy XIII demo I'm all excited about that. I think if we were going to be able to truely compare we'd need to see gameplay of both at the very least. If I had to pick...Probably Final Fantasy Versus XIII, just by a hair, because I usually like games with darker themes. But Final Fantasy XIII was bloody awesome, and I'm sure each game will be awesome in their own way.

13 better look better then VS. VS is like 3% done. If it looked better then 13 (which is like 80% done) then that would mean 13 is pure trash.

cool, give it a shot. I can't promise that you'll like it because such things are hit or miss and I haven't even played this particular FF myself. I'd ask you to at least try to log in 10-15 hours before quitting because FF games tend to take a while to catch on. If I wwasn't broke with no other options when I got FF8, I would have quit early (I returned after thinking of quitting because I had nothing else to play) and ended up missing out on one of my favorite games of all time and my favorite genre
