Virtua Tennis 2009 serves up Wii MotionPlus support

The rumors were true: Sega has confirmed the Wii version of Virtua Tennis 2009 will support Nintendo's upcoming MotionPlus remote add-on. The publisher is making a racket about the fact its game will be out before EA Sports' Grand Slam Tennis, which hits in June, making it the first title on the market to utilize Ninty's fancy new doohickey.

Of course, Wii MotionPlus won't even be out until June, but it's still nice to know VT2009 supports it without pesky patches. (You know, those things Wii games don't have?) We suspect we'll be hearing more about the extra-sensitive Wii version of the game soon. Right now, Sega's only providing a general "spring 2009" release window.

Sounds like SEGA, too, is trying to capitalize on being "me first" for WM+.

Very interesting. I still thing Grand Slam is going to take the cake on this one, even if it's art style seems a bit too basic and lifeless to me.

I'm a mod, come to me if there's mod'n to do.

Chrizum is the best thing to happen to the internet, Period.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!

Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.

Hahahha, if I was Sega I'd be doing the same thing.

Which game will be better, though? I most likely won't buy either of them, but if it turns out that they make perfect use of the WM+, I just might get one.

Yeah, most people would pick only 1 title out of these 2.
And being first will surely help a whole lot.

I have a feeling EA is going to push their release date, too.

If EA can present a bundle with WM+, I'm don't think releasing first will save Virtua Tennis.

Let's see who can moneyhat Nintendo to bundle with WM+?

Awesome. So why are the rackets in the bundle not designed to hold the wiimote w motion+?

We haven't seen anything from the Wii version yet, except a couple of screenshots.
I have a bad feeling.
