1. no one was beaten.
2. that bitch continually violated his personal space when he was being swarmed by the other "protesters".  the officer defended himself and tried to put more space between them.  she was a threat to his safety and the safety of the other officers.

bitch?

And that's a big deal?

police beating protestors?

yeah, its a pretty big deal here in the UK, especialy as one of the people beaten died

he wasnt beaten.  he was pushed. after clearly trying to obstruct the police officers.

and this dumb bitch was up in the police officers face.  he was defending himself.  she failed to maintain proper distance after his initial attempt so he was forced to use his baton.

dumb bitch?

If you think a slap to the face and a charlie horse is "Police Brutality" than you live a very sheltered and blessed life ...

One thing a lot of people don't understand about protests like this is that (while the crowd is mostly made up of misguided upper middle-class 'children' who believe that everyone should get a liberal arts degree and the world's problems can be solved through interpretive dance) there are always paid protesters and political extremests who try to provoke violence and destruction for political gain. While we see the police officer strike the woman we don't see much leading up to it and we don't really know what this woman had been doing to the officer before hand.

Now, the police officer probably shouldn't have hit her and he probably should be suspended for his actions; but the protester had probably been warned dozens of times to leave the area and to stop trying to break through the line, and she should have listened and not forced the esclation of force from the police officer.

Its calculated, thats the problem. Same thing happened in Australia during protests where the POLICE INTENTIONALLY REMOVE IDENTIFIABLE NAMETAGS AND OFFICER NUMBER IDS.

They know theyre doing wrong, its why they remove their id tags.

“When we make some new announcement and if there is no positive initial reaction from the market, I try to think of it as a good sign because that can be interpreted as people reacting to something groundbreaking. ...if the employees were always minding themselves to do whatever the market is requiring at any moment, and if they were always focusing on something we can sell right now for the short term, it would be very limiting. We are trying to think outside the box.” - Satoru Iwata - This is why corporate multinationals will never truly understand, or risk doing, what Nintendo does.

This video is a huge thing here in the UK at the moment. It shows a newspaper seller just walking home through the riots before he is wacked in the back of the knees with a baton and then pushed to the floor by the police. The man suffered a fatal heart attack just minutes later.

It may not have been an incredibly aggressive act but any violent overreactions by the police on protestors will anger the crowd meaning that the police have to be even tougher to keep them under control, but this will just increase tension thus a potential riot.

Bloody Sunday comes to mind.

This thread is like those on climate change, attracts ignorant people who have no idea about context or background.

One protester died during the G20 and it was primarily due to another officer pushing and attacking this innocent person. They were not even protesting.

@to those who say its nothing. SHE DID NOTHING WRONG. To someone who did nothing wrong EVERYTHING, barring verbal harassment in return, is completely wrong especially when a police officer is doing it.

And thats correct, the more often police aggression is seen the less likely protestors will behave differently.

I agree he was justified in his actions

Not all are but he was

If you watch she had a camera in her hand

In that kinda environment things in hands tend to look like other things when you can only afford them a quick glance

Also if you look she does make contact with him before he back hands her

She tugs on his outfit while his back is to her

Then she repeats that action after the smack and he tries to move away from her

Next she get back into his face and like any reasonable person third strike and your out

The video clip only shows his reaction not hers leading up to it

He was alright in his use of force

The end blip about the guy getting pushed…I can t comment on that b/c I cant see enough

Its the police's fault. Instead of just keeping the peaceful protest peaceful, they try and stop it. We have every right to peacefully protest.

Its interesting that the people who complain about the UK becoming a police state, are the same ones who have justified the police attacking peaceful citizens.

The same thing happened at a power plant a couple of weeks ago. Also, the police arrested 100 people a couple of days ago, because they were planning to stage a peaceful protest. The government and police are taking away our rights and its unacceptable.
