ironman said: Well here we go again, you wanna talk popularity? It has already been proven the Halo series is more popular than the GT series. Halo is a household word, whereas GT is only widely known in the gaming community. Halo has action figures, books, board games, clothing, soft drinks, countless Machinimas, parodies, posters, calendars, costumes, greeting cards, bobble heads, license plates, sound tracks, instruments, it has been used on the TV show “Knight Rider”, is so popular it is even used in porn as was shown on an earlier post in this very thread, and the very real possibility of being made into a movie, just to name a few. Any questions??? I didn’t think so. Console install base, and bundling are very relevant to a sales discussion. It is common knowledge that a consol with a huge install base will sell more of ANY game, than a console with a relatively small install base. Likewise, a game that is heavily bundled will sell more copies than one that was not heavily bundled. These are irrefutable facts that blind fanboys just can’t comprehend, it’s kinda sad really. Oh and Rpruett, as an American, you should be ashamed of your “American centric” statement and attitude, it is bad enough that non Americans feel that way, but an American citizen? Shame on you! People like you just drag down this country’s image, I mean, if our own citizens feel this way then how is the rest of the world not supposed to? Grow up, get a life, get a job, you will learn to love America soon enough.

Has it really now? Proven? Then why are you still trying to prove your point?
Console install base HAS absolutely ZERO relevance to popularity. The sooner you let that sink in the better.
Yawn.
I do love America. I do have a job (Probably a better one than you). I do have a life. Of course since I don't agree that Halo can cure blind children of blindness I'm un-american right?
American-Centric is a total attitude held by many Americans. If it happens here in America, it's a constant elsewhere in the world. That just isn't true and is so far-fetched it's unbelievable. Halo is an American-Primarily and some parts of Europe-Secondarily phenomenon and no where else. Gran Turismo is solidly popular in all areas of the globe. Which is why sales numbers are highest for it. It doesn't appeal to just on demographic of people. (Hence, it is more popular).

Why yes, Halo popularity has been proven, the only reason I still have to shove the massive amounts of eveidence in your face is because you clueless fanboys just don't get it. World wide Halo is still more poplular, why you can't seem to look at the evidence is beyond me, but whatever.
What evidence? Where? I've yet to see you provide me any. Well I have taken that back, you have provided me tons of anecdotal evidence. Not that, that matters in any way.
I just talked to the thread starter, he told me this thread was started as a comparison of CURRENT popularity, and sales numbers have nothing to do with the popularity numbers. As a whole the GT franchise may have sold more copies of games than the Halo franchise, but Halo is much more popular.
Is it really? How do you know? Cold hard evidence? Or more of the anecdotal variety? We know one thing, "Halo's popularity" surely hasn't translated to more sales for the franchise.
" Of course since I don't agree that Halo can cure blind children of blindness I'm un-american right?" That statment is ignorant, insulting, and completely untrue. get over yourself fanboy.
Fanboy? I'm stating the obvious. Halo is an American phenomenon. That's it. More popular in America? Sure. More popular across the world (Which is really what matters) No.
The fact that you feel America is too pridefull and full of itself is unAmerican. We have earned the right to become proud of all that we as a nation have accomplished. We have a right to be proud for all the nations we have helped free, we have a right to be proud of our economic system (even if it is under attack right now) so yes, your attitude is unAmerican.
LOL. You're too much dude. Stick to getting your GED. Then we'll continue.
