Forums - Gaming - Sony: Microsoft “writes cheques” for games thanks to first-party line-up insecurity

Where have all the Sony third party exclusives gone? They are either being bought by Nintendo or Microsoft who have lots of money to buy third party titles. What happened to loyalty to Sony? Out of the window. Business is business. There is no loyalty in the business world, only thing that matters is making money.

GTA IV DLC: Lost and the Damned has sold over 1 million and counting on X360. The Microsoft $50 million investment for the two GTA IV DLC could be made back on the first DLC alone. The second piece of DLC will add icing to the cake and will sell as much or more than the first piece of DLC.

@ hanafuda

you wouldnt call 1 million consoles a foothold in Japan then?

oh...and you completely missed my point.......

In relation to the amount of money they have thrown at it? Quite frankly, no.

Take of your fanboy glasses. MS has made a huge headway into Japan.

From

1:26 ratio for Xbox vs PS2

to

1:3 ratio for X360 vs PS3

Wow this is silly of Sony. They did the same thing with PS1. They paid through the roof to beat Sega and Nintendo. Hypocrisy here.

Yeah, but it's only cool to moneyhat things during your first generation. Or any generation, if you're Sony.

Well they would know. If anyone has written more checks for games it was Sony during the PS1 era.

What titles did they pay for?  I'm not too familiar with Sony's shenanigans during that generation.

I thought they got that one because the cost of spreading FF7 on an equivalent number of cartridges was obscene.

People don't understand the difference. People could spin it an say sony bought LBP because they funded it. But it's not the same. Media Molecule went to Sony, showed the idea, sony loved it and offered funding. They do they all the time, Sony will fund stuff if it's a good idea and company needs it. They don't actively go out looking to buy stuff like microsoft does. If microsoft can't get it they pay for it.
