I know it's not nice for me to say and very Un-PC, but Somalia is not my favorite country by quite some way. Horrible place from what I know.

However, factions within the country (cough Government cough cough) should be viewed as dangerous. I think Miss Gibbons will vouch for this. They have shown high levels of intolerance in the past and have done some shady stuff.

But that said, it is unfair to generalise them as terrorists. I think cougarman may be Somalian (?) and cougarman is a lovely person. So I think saying somalis are terrorists in general is unfair. It would be more fair to address the problem groups. In this case the government. You wouldn't say Afgans are terrorists, Al-quieda are.

But I agree with the basic principle of your post, Americans should not stand for it. Action should be taken.

I dunno, I try not to get involved in this kind of stuff to be honest.

But I have issues with the word terrorism being used anyway. One persons terrorist is another freedom fighter and that lol. I think it is a word Bush coined to take away those pesky civil liberties. I think violent fanatics would be more apt.

... Sorry, that was like 80% off topic lol

Yeah I screwed the title up a bit but yeah you are dead on.

We have been @ war in Somalia since 2002 actually: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Operation_Enduring_Freedom_-_Horn_of_Africa

You guys should go over and take your ships back and that. It's not fair. I'm not saying be violent, just go and kick up a fuss. That's what we did about two years back and we managed to get our way... eventually lol

Mind you I heard about the russians (?) a few months back tried to capture some ships back off the Somali pirates and they couldn't do it because the pirates would have exploited some law to get out of it, but I forget what it was. So you may have trouble with ships.

The government of Somalia isn't the problem, its the lack of government.

Lol, That's what I meant, looking back it wasn't to clear was it lol

Terrorists use terror to try and change the way people live their lives. Pirates just use whatever means they can to get themselves some treasure.

You know, I have to say that I think George Bush II was right about one thing. If more money is spent on helping developing nations, then less people would turn to crime and terrorism as a way of life.

This is where Special Forces come into play in helping out localities and keeping terrorists at bay while establishing PRs.

Too bad we can't just hang pirates like we used to.

Yet, today, America's leaders are reenacting every folly that brought these great powers [Russia, Germany, and Japan] to ruin -- from arrogance and hubris, to assertions of global hegemony, to imperial overstretch, to trumpeting new 'crusades,' to handing out war guarantees to regions and countries where Americans have never fought before. We are piling up the kind of commitments that produced the greatest disasters of the twentieth century.

He did spend more money then any other president when it came to helping Africa.... by a large margin.

His approval rating in Africa was 80% as of February of last year.
