Forums - Gaming - PS3 closed gap on 360 in US last month, says Pachter

360 Resident Evil Edition Console is sold out everywhere. YES, there are shortages. I actually have one of these sitting right beside me, brand new, waiting to sell on ebay for a BIG profit. ¬_¬

Wow you say so much without any evidence to back it up, from the news I heard on the internet Microsoft lost 6 billion on the origional xbox, and have lost 1 billion on xbox 360 due to RROD,  thats 7 billion not the 30 billion you claim, I will even say 8 billion for making the 360 and marketing, but 30 billion, LOL.

To be fair, the EDD has only lost 19.422 billion since 2005.  That plus your 6 billion on the original Xbox puts MS losses at 25.422 billion for the console.  I see your point, that's a lot better.

By the way, my evidence can be found here -> http://www.microsoft.com/msft/earnings/default.mspx

This cant be rite.

Of course it isn't.  But he seems to believe everything that he reads on the Internet, so it was quite easy to slip it by him. Actual losses of the EDD are in the 3.5 billion range :).

LOL, I don't believe everything I read on the internet, I am not a Microsoft puppet I don't believe everything Microsoft says, I wait for time to see if what microsoft says happens, even though Microsoft have delivered on all their promises, but thanks for trying to mislead me, you must feel good about that.

Im getting frustrated now. Where there X360 shortages in early 2008 or not?

And is there X360 shortages right now or not?

ill present you with evidence and you can decide for yourself.

A. MS claimed only one model out of three were low supply.

B. MS claimed it was only in NA.

i dont know about you but that already sounds weird to me.

C. MS claimed this after ps3 just started outselling it consistantly in npd reports.

D. they claimed shortages for 5 months. (what kind of system takes 5 months to replenish supply that isnt the wii. 360 at this time was selling a measly 120k weekly too )

E. after supposed shortages were taken care of sales never increased

Well I am saying it is shortages now and PS3 isn't outselling the 360 so there.

The things I mentioned was on the internet people should remember the shortages after holiday 2007, when microsoft came out and said they had shortages,

and people should remember the recent news of microsoft replenishing hardware in Japan back in september,

so please I ain't going to work that hard just to prove my point to a person that still don't even believe the company that makes the system.

someone else might but not me.

If you can't prove a point, then don't make one.

You really are shooting yourself in the foot with this argument. Be glad that Zucas, Khuutra, or Naz isn't here to argue with you. I'm nice.

Again, you are not entitled whatever the hell you'd like as truth. Because what are you doing isn't true at all.

The reason why I am not goint to find the links is because Max won't even believe the company, so what is the point.

Look, the only case where I can remember the 360 in shortage was in Japan when Tales launched. It was hard to find and we have pictures documenting it.

Whenever they claimed the same in America before GTA launched (and was being outsold by PS3) they claimed the same. Those were refuted because no major retailer was out online and they were easily found in stores.

I am talking about in January when they were having shortages right after the holiday season.

They probably had shortages up to march right before GTA 4 launch as well, its funny how it is the month of march ps3 closed the gap, again like I said 360 had shortages same time last year after the holiday season, and like I said before it's not a stretch of the imagination that they are now running low, because from september 2008 to February 2009 microsoft sold 8 million consoles, thats 8 million consoles in 6 months, its not unbelievable to me that they are now running low, because it happened last year and they are selling more consoles than last year.

And I don't think it was proven true that microsoft was not telling the truth I think it was gamers saying that and showing one or two retailers don't mean anything like I said I had shortages in my area around that time.

I will post again so you can read it.

give. it. up. sales. never. increased. shortages. never. hindered. sales.

I never said shortages hindered sales, because I don't remember if sales for 360 went up or not, all I said their were shortages, thats all.

^ but you have no evidence to support your theory and no standing within MS so therefore you have no credibility in this situation so it really doesnt matter what you say

If the shortage didn't hinder sales, then that wasn't a shortage at all. A small amount of supply with an even smaller amount of buyers is called lack of demand for a product rather than a shortage.

I think sales did increase but not by anything significant.

you know... we are on a site were you can check that out pretty easily. i cant copy and paste but i just checked and the 360 line follows the same trend the ps3 one does. the only time there was a note worthy increase was gta4 time along with ps3. and steady increase leading up to gta4 just like the ps3 too. sales never increased

is this page broke for anyone else? all i see is black.
