Why would they have to release something bigger for the Wii? It's all about the DSi if you want my opinion.

^ It's not that huge considering how many 1st and 2nd party studios that Nintendo has. I think they got some huge things planned one being Pikimin 3 as well 1-2 reinvigorated Ip's. As well as some of these games in Japan that have been announced getting American release dates.

Nintendo has two zelda teams, a handheld one and a console one. we know that the handheld team is working on Spirit tracks and that the console one is working on a console zelda that will apparently reinvigorate the series

Cosmic Walker won't be even remotely close to big, so I'd take that out, in fact none of the other projects Nintendo announced for Japan will be big at all probably most of them will never leave Japan.

Pikmin 3, Red Steel 2, Kirby Wii will be "big", but not as big as WSR, no. Besides we don't even know if they are 2009 games, the chances are they aren't.

Tales of Graces is probably either Christmas 09 or Q1 2010 in Japan.

MH3 will be big in Japan, hits this summer barring any delays.

RE won't be "big", in fact one of the smallest projects I'd say, but will hit before 2010. Same with TMNT brawler and Dead Space Extraction.

M&S at the Winter Olympics will be the closest thing (by millions might I add) to WSR. Yeah, 2009 game and will take advantage of the Holidays.

Guitar Hero, DJ Hero and The Beatles Rockband will be big as always, but they aren't Wii exclusive, so it won't matter as much as the other games. They will sell the best on the Wii, but it's not like people will be buying only Wiis for them.

Lastly, Zelda Wii isn't happening this year. I'd put it as the biggest game after WSR, but it's definitely a 2010 - 2011 game, so we take it out.

There's in fact other games that could hit Japan like SW3, FFCC:TCB but I'm afraid they could as well be 2010 titles.

Nintendo needs to make some big announcements at this E3, like 4 big announcements for 2009, because their lineup is empty as hell after Q2. They already gave third parties time enough to catch up (If you are to believe that, I always believed that they didnt release any games because they thought a few big hits were enough, like AC and Wii Music, but evidently, that strategy backfired and left the Wii bleeding badly in Japan) and if they don't release anything big for the core after Q2 they will be in troubles with a part of their audience. They know there are millions of people out there that will buy the Wii because of Wii Fit. The thing is there's also millions that would buy core games. Hopefully they have somethings for the 2nd haf of the year, but honestly I'm not holding my breath to deep.

I strongly believe that either Zelda Wii, Red Steel 2, or Dynamic Slash will be out this holiday with Motion+ required to play (maybe even bundled). Hopefully RS2, cuz I want some multiplayer duels .

We really don't know much about Nintendo's (the game publisher, not the console) post Sports Resort lineup aside from Sin & Punishment 2, which is most likely going to be a holiday title.

Fortunately we're looking at a really strong third party line up this time around, but I'm sure Nintendo has more planned. I imagine they'll release one more decently big game to use the M+ for the holidays to keep the add on in focus.

I really wouldn't be surprised if they came out with a new IP either.

What does Japan like though? "Traditional" games don't sell there anymore. I remember Twilight Princess and Super Mario Galaxy not selling so good.

^ since when is selling over a million not good (galaxy)? Second zelda has never sold very good in japan but it still went gold?

For the last generations, I thought main Nintendo IPs used to sell much more than they did now? Correct me if I'm wrong.

Well there was not a core zelda last generation to compare it too. But consider Mario Kart Wii? Mario sunshine only sold 870k in japan, star fox adventures sold 320k, mario kart double dash sold 800kish.
