onlive is so much talk but that is pretty much it? I do not understand how they can survive because unless they could buy wii consoles in bulk would they really make that much money?

prediction: wii to sell 150million console by end of 2010

Nope, Onlive won't support mods. |
This. No mods and studd make Onlive absolutely useless.

OnLive would be useless on less developed countries like mine. I mean, a 2mb ADSL costs $100USD per month. My entire PC cost me $700.
| Slimebeast said: The OnLive idea is stupid. They bring an unneccessary extra step by transfering all the data through the internet from a remote PC instead of the one on your desktop, plus the compression process of the movie lol. Lag would be insane and it will look like crap, in addition to the service being too expensive etc. In 20 years we could have something similar, although I doubt it, but today it's impossible. |
When Valve went to Microsoft to propose them their Digital Distribution concept, Microsoft said to them that such Digital Distribution Service was 10 years too early... you know what Valve did? They made Steam without Microsoft's help! HAHAHAHA Thank God!

Yeah, but just because Valve were right doesn't mean this lot are. Steam seemed perfectly sensible at the time (at least to me) both in terms of concept and infrastructure. Also Valve, apart from the wobble with Half Life 2, have been good are carefully building the service and letting it grow.
OnLive is promising massive jumps right from the start, with hard to believe claims technically and a much more dubious position with reference to infrastructure - at least IMHO.
Still, at least Steam is great.
Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

Onlive will only sell to people who want to play PC games, but don't have a gaming pc. Is that a large group of people?

A major point of PC gaming is the fact that we get free mods addons and content from others. No BS like DLC or other shit like that.

But if your PC can't even run the game, then what good would it do to you if it supports mods or not? Onlive atleast allows you to play those recent games in a crappy PC.

May as well pick up a 360 or a PS3 then shio. Sounds like you'd like it more than the PC gaming there.

Fortunately you can buy a PC cheaper than 360/PS3 that you could use Onlive with, so there's really not much point to buy a console.
And for the record I do use mods, but there are people who can't even run the games they want, and they won't be so bothered by the lack of mods if Onlive allowed them to play those games.
