@ Mike: Like 11 at nite...

Seriously. If they were advertising a videogame targeted at 8-12 year old girls, the TV show you were watching was also aimed at that exact demographic.
Well, from 6-10 CDT, ABCFamily had the Sound of Music -- definitely a family target.
From 10-11 CDT it had America's Funniest Home Videos.
After that, the channel went into a set of Fresh Prince re-runs.
So particularly if it was before 10 p.m., then the ads matched the program.

So it doesn't appeal to you that doesn't mean that it wouldn't appeal to other people.

Serves me right for challenging his sales predictions!
Bet with dsisister44: Red Steel 2 will sell 1 million within it's first 365 days of sales.
pets sportz for Wii (from Ubisoft) is a greally good effort i must say, the dogs look just like real!
don't blame the game and the developers if you are not interested in the specific game type
don't mind my username, that was more than 10 years ago, I'm a different person now, amazing how people change ^_^
^It was at 11 central... I think... Yeah, I remember seeing the fresh prince... idk my little bro was the one picking what to watch, so between the constant channel-switching (my brother is freakin fickle), that's when it was probably on...

They paid so much damn ads for shovelware, and showed ZERO gameplay footage. They just showed a bunch of stupid dogs and cats looking into the TV. And yet I still haven't seen a NMH commercial... The worst part of the whole deal is, my mom goes "what a cute game". I immeadiately did a facepalm and said: "That shovelware? It's stupid. You didn't even see the game.", and then she said "I don't care, it looked cute". |
Would your mom have said that No More Heroes looked "cute"? ...probably not. She did like the commercial for Petz though and was watching a program where she was part of the targeted demographic. I'm not a fan of all these family games but ads are generally going to be focused to those who would probably watch the particular program. Also, ads for hardcore games don't need to be advertised as much since fans of that genre will find out about those game. Your mom isn't likely to search the web and subscribe to gaming mags to read about Carnival Games. So companies need to advertise more to reach mom. And lately Ubisoft has probably given us more harcore than Nintendo. Blame all these 3rd party publishers all you want but it's Nintendo that started this.
I'll come up with something better eventually...

Want to name some names? We didn't even get a new Brothers in arms, just a cover slip to change the color! And where is Red Steel 2?
