I only played one game in both series, the first SC on my (original) X-Box and MGS4 on my PS3... loved them both to death, but I liked MGS4 even more than SC. Also think though, that they're quite different, even despite both are stealth games.

This is stupid, you know what certain people are going to say. People who don't own a PS3 or are Anti-PS3 are going to play Splinter Cell. Only people to have fully played both should comment.
After playing them both I agree totally with Dgc1808. Although Splinter Cell is better with Pure Stealth, once you get connected to the MGS series there is no comparison

I would call the graphics a tie because up until recently the Splinter Cell games had better graphics. This finally changed with MGS4. |
MGS3 wasn't exactly ground breaking but it looked great. I thought it looked better at the end of 04 when compared to Chaos Theory at the begining of 05. [releases weren't too far.]
MGS2 was a beautiful game compared to the rest of 2001...heck it gave alot the games in 02 and 03 on PS2 a good run for their money IMO.
4 ≈ One
if you like mgs more, you dont actually like stealth games
splinter cell is the stealth game, kills it in every way, from graphics to sound, to story
also it has awesome online
mgs is splinter cell for dummies

And you've fully played both sets of games? You played MGS4?
Most people on VGchartz played both. I did.

I mean connected as in connected to the story, characters and plot.
MGS is superior, thats why many call it the best game of all time, thats why when you watch a Raiden Cutscene you go 'Oh Shit'
