Forums - General - U2's Newest Album- No Line on the Horizon

What do think about it?

I love it, it makes there last few albums feel shallow in comparison. I am still baffled why they chose Get Your Boots On as the lead single.... It is a decent song, but easily the worst on the album(an awsome album at that).

I am gonna have to put this album as their 3rd best, here is my order of favorite U2 albums from favorite, to least (I like them all except Pop... btw)

  1. Actung Baby
  2. Joshua Tree
  3. No Line on the Horizon
  4. Unforgetable Fire
  5. Zooropa
  6. All That I Can't Leave Behind
  7. War
  8. How to Dismantle an Atomic Bomb
  9. Boy
  10. Rattle and Hum
  11. October
  12. Pop

Well what do you think? Me I put there top 4 in the Masterpiece category, the next 4 would be in the Great Category, 9, 10, 11 are good albums, and Pop is.... meh.

I like all of the songs on the album but Get on your boots and maybe Unknown Caller (still trying to figure that one out)

My favorites songs on the album go something like this

1. Breathe
2. No Line on the Horizon
3. Magnificent
4. I'll Go Crazy...
5. White as Snow
6. Moment of Surrender
7. Stand Up Comedy
8. Fez- Being Born
9. Cedars of Lebanon
10. Unknown Caller
11. Get on your boots

Like I said this album is solid staight through. I can see the top 4 being on the U2 best of 2001-2010 Album, they are very good. Like I said the only 2 two songs I am not totally digging are the last 2.

Bought it, it's okay, but a bit too polished for me. The production sounds more like Daniel Lanois than Brian Eno (or Rick Rubin) to me.

My top 5 albums are:
The Unforgettable Fire
...
The Joshua Tree
Achtung Baby
Under a Blood Red Sky
All That I Can't Leave Behind

Why is U2 still putting out albums?

We had two bags of grass, seventy-five pellets of mescaline, five sheets of high-powered blotter acid, a salt shaker half full of cocaine, a whole galaxy of multi-colored uppers, downers, screamers, laughers…Also a quart of tequila, a quart of rum, a case of beer, a pint of raw ether and two dozen amyls.  The only thing that really worried me was the ether.  There is nothing in the world more helpless and irresponsible and depraved than a man in the depths of an ether binge. –Raoul Duke

It is hard to shed anything but crocodile tears over White House speechwriter Patrick Buchanan's tragic analysis of the Nixon debacle. "It's like Sisyphus," he said. "We rolled the rock all the way up the mountain...and it rolled right back down on us...."  Neither Sisyphus nor the commander of the Light Brigade nor Pat Buchanan had the time or any real inclination to question what they were doing...a martyr, to the bitter end, to a "flawed" cause and a narrow, atavistic concept of conservative politics that has done more damage to itself and the country in less than six years than its liberal enemies could have done in two or three decades. -Hunter S. Thompson

I guess that makes it their best album in almost twenty years. I guess I'll have to check it out. I read somewhere that Lars Ulrich likes it.

Heavens to Murgatoids.

its good, but not one of there best albums imo, Ill Go Crazy was my favourite track off the album, my fave U2 album would be Achtung Baby
