First of all it seems to me that Square can be bought with a price. Secondly Square wants to tap into that elusive western market that only buys two of their games.
I think it would be interesting if Nintendo started pushing their money around to get games. That would build up the number of third parties that support Nintendo for current and future consoles. Also it would build up the fanbase as well.
FF13 for wii most likely won't happen though, but if it did I am sure there would be some pissed off fanboys.

Try looking up what happened. There was no SE, for one thing.
A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

if Nintendo did pay for FFXIII
SE would use that money to make FFXIV for PS3/360
