Well, not 100 of them. Something closer to 40. If LO is in my opinion the best jrpg ever, why could not I say it? Also it is nice to know that YOU would not consider it a top 10 all time.

You never stated it as an opinion.
Either way this argument is pointless. I am sure majority share my opinion here, plus you are 60+ JRPG short of my knowledge of what JRPG titles are out there and I personally believe that would make me much more informed of which could and/or should be considered more deserving of their placement.
Lost Odyssey brought nothing new, it was just old mechanics (other than the skill sharing pretty much) used all over again. That alone can not ever put it near the top.
A game like Xenogears for example has a battle system was way ahead of it's time, it was a mixture of 2-D and 3-D battle mechanics, combos, etc...
People rank of Legend of Dragoon, one in this thread said the battle system sucked. Legend of Dragoon is turn-based, much like Lost Odyssey is.
Legend of Dragoon had it where once you attack a box is over the enemy and another box would shrink and spin until it vanished while passing over the square that shown over the enemy. You must hit the attack button again when the 2 squares a lined up.
Sound familar?
Not bad for a system someone in here though sucked, only to see that the #2 game on his list shares a system very much similar.
iPhone = Great gaming device. Don't agree? Who cares, because you're wrong.
Currently playing:
Final Fantasy VI (iOS), Final Fantasy: Record Keeper (iOS) & Dragon Quest V (iOS)

Anyways, I am just glad to see more people here getting into JRPG talks.
Makes me happy.

from what I can tell nobody here mentioned Panzer Dragoon Saga yet and (imho) it's just a grave sin to have a jrpg thread that never mentions Panzer Dragoon Saga, so now I will mention it: Panzer Dragoon Saga

I own the PS2 version, yes its a good game and so is Grandia 1, but they are a bit forgetable.

That game was bad, and you know it.

Yuck, the Breath of Fire Series has always been the definition of a bland JRPG.
Like i've mentioned before Legend of Dragoon, was pretty bad.
Vagrant Story...ahh Vagrant Story. Stay underground and fight bosses that i hope you are ready for with a newly crafted weapon thats strong against him. No? Enjoy 3 damage a hit.
Secret of Mana and Terranigma were ok, but i'm not too big on Action JRPGs. Personally i hade more fun with Seiken Densetsu 3 rather than SoM.
I never played Shadow Hearts, I heard half the games were mediocre, so i avoided them. Same goes for the SaGa games.

Well I'll just say your assuming everyone thinks the same as you as to whats important in a Jrpg. See to me Character progression, storytelling and cinematography is abig chunk of what a Jrpg needs for. No matter how good a battle system is, I would get board if these werent prominent. Just saying everyone sees things differently. :)

Shadow Heart 2 was a great jrpg. Didn't like Shadow Hearts 3 that much though.
