It's "the Wii can't sell CORE NEW IP third party games".

What are the examples of CORE NEW IP third party games that sells on other consoles?

Assassin's Creed, Call of Duty was never very big before this gen

Anyway, in many cases, it is undeniably true, most jRPGs (maybe not LO) would have done far better in terms of sales on other consoles, though that does not mean that it is better for the publisher

"The Wii can't sell third party games."- Now that this theory has been smashed, we have the next big thing.

While the previous goalpost moving exercises landed on more or less the same new criterion, this time, it seems to be split between "It would've sold better on the..." and "The Wii can't sell _the right_ third party games", where _the right_ third party games are inevitably given the circular definition of the ones that didn't sell well, to the exclusion of the big success stories.

Let's face it, though: If the "hardcore" have been railing against the Wii for the past three years (from the unveiling of the Wiimote to today), they're never going to change their minds about it.  Yes, they'll lose ground in arguments, but they'll never stop redefining success to arbitrarily exclude the Wii.

all the 360 jprgs would have sold better on the PS3, purely because of the japanese audience.

killzone would be sat at 4m now if it was on the 360.

Do you mean 4mil solely on 360?

If so, that's ridiculous. No way, would it have got there in 1 and a half months.

Gears 2 only got to ~3.5mil in that time.

I agree that it would have sold much better on 360 though, due to the demographic.

JRPG would have sold better on ps3 like SO4, LO, TLR

Shooters would have sold better on 360 KZ2, R2 even HAZE!!!!! LOL

LBP would have sold better on Wii.

Pokemon would've sold better on the Gamecube, the PS2 version was a flop :P

Yes, because the Wii has proved itself as a strong pusher of new & innovative IPs. Zak & Wiki says hi.

Oh, and the Wii's online platform isn't sophisticated enough for the sharing and playing of community levels.

So, no. It would have bombed on Wii.

You fail at joke detection.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

In the established art of moving goalposts, gamers have now come up with the line above in order to once again attempt to downplay the success of a game and its system along with it.

This has been addressed towards the Wii the most, with games like Madworld deemed as being on the "wrong console". PS3 and 360 games receive this judgement as well, but it is almost exclusively concerned with Japan.

A game comes out on the system it does, that is it. Don't be a troll about it.

"The Wii can't sell third party games."- Now that this theory has been smashed, we have the next big thing.

Yer right, people should stop saying it because they have no proof to put forward in its assertion.  Same as "Valkyria woulda sold better on Wii" which I've heard a surprising amount, same with LBP.  Street goes both ways, and both should stop.

You can have some proof.  If by looking at past trends.

Just often times when peole make these assertions they avoid past trends.

By looking at previous games by the developer or similar games by the developer... trends can be noticed.

I'd say almost every flagship exclusive on the PS3 would sell better on the 360. For example MGS4 would probably be at 6M+ and KZ2 at 4M+ and Uncharted at 3M+

All of the JRPGS for the 360 ex:SO4, IU,TOV, TLR would have sold better on the PS3

Halo: Combat Evolved and Halo 2 would have sold better on the PS2

Killzone 2 would sell better on Xbox 360
