don't spend $1000 on a tv where you could get one for at least a hundred less.

Point in example, my brother just got a 42" vizio, 1080p, 5ms, 120hz, at wal-mart for $850 and that included tax...and the tv is absolutely top notch perfect picture quality!!

The sony will have a much better black level, plus the vizio will have noticable input lag.  I don;t think they even have a game mode.  120hz sets also produce more lag.  Some people are really sensitive to input lag like me, Others don;t notice it.

I've never even heard of this nor does it make any sense.  How would it cause more lag?

It is being fed a 60hz signal which is then converted to 120hz... It adds more the processing which increases lag time.  I cannot speak for the 2009 line up but theres whole threads about it in the AVS forum.  The A650 (120hz) is a good example compared to the A550 (60hz)  The A650 was generally 1 frame behind the A550 which is about 13 MS

I have not read anything relating to the 120hz vizo tvs though

Incorrect, Vizios DO have a gamemode :) Just an FYI

It might not be a bad alternative then if your looking for a cheap tv

And i'm playing on a vizio right now and there isn't even a tiny bit of lag, the old vizio's had some problems but the new one's are almost comparable to the higher end hd tv's.  But the absolute best hd tvs are toshiba hands down...they MADE hd what it is today.

13ms lag? THATS A LOT :O

Of course most ppl probably don't notice that much, but I sure can, didn't know that, good info!

The Halo francise is the most overrated bland game to ever hit the console market. It provides a bad name to all FPS that even showed effort at creating an original entertaining plot.

I probably have more ps3 games than you :/

i just got my 46 inch sony z series today :) sexy as balls.

40" should be alright for a smaller apartment. I have a pretty small apartment (Japanese apartment!) and I have a 32" lcd Mitsubishi hdtv that I use as my main tv(for movies/Wii360 games, etc.) I also have 2 Sony CRT tv's (29" and 25" that I got for cheap, used for older games PS2/SNES/Saturn) and I have a Benq 24" 1080P computer monitor for my desktop. If I can fit all of this stuff into my tiny apartment, then you should be fine!

Though you might want to consider saving some of your money. You might need some for an emergency or something else that you might want.

Also can't you change hard drive's pretty easily on the PS3? You might want to get the 80gb model instead and just buy another hard drive so you can get much more space on there instead of only 160gb. For example, taking a quick look at Newegg.com I saw a 500gb laptop hard drive on there for $99, which you could easily put into your PS3. Or you could get a slightly smaller/cheaper hard drive and use the difference to pick up a PS3 game.

starcraft: "I and every PS3 fanboy alive are waiting for Versus more than FFXIII.
Me since the games were revealed, the fanboys since E3."

Skeeuk: "playstation 3 is the ultimate in gaming acceleration"

Actually rethought this. You should invest it in something small, long term.

No you misread.. 13ms more lag then the a550 ... so like 55-60 ms all together compared to 35 ms.  Id say anything over 50 to me is starting to get to much for me guitar hero

I have 32" TV and around 8-9 feets of viewing distance.
It's too big for SD signals like PS2/TV and too small for PS3/hd tv/blueray.
So get the biggest one you can have :D

i heard the panny have better sound system, which one it's overall better when visual quality, loud sound and gamming perfomance on a ps3 are the main points.
and casual SD TV viewing second.
