Forums - Nintendo - Can't the wii engine handle the new Prince of Persia

I always wondered why the new Prince of Persia isn't on the wii?The wii's engine can't handle it?I think it should be able to,it could handle Okami & DragonballZ:Budokia Tenkaichi 3 and though PoP has the best graphics of the 3,there's never more than 3 guys on screen at once(the prince,Elika-his sidekick and a boss).I think more of the wii engine can be focused on graphics since other areas(except for the traps) are probably not as demanding. Can some1 more technically enlightened explain this 2 me or is it that they started developing the game when people still thought the wii couldn't play/sell hardcore games?

My thread for teaching VGC some Nigerian slangs

I'm sure the engine can handle it, and probably does. They probably just didn't want to spend the money to tone down the levels and art assets, so it would fit into Wii memory.

PoP is a great franchise, but I'd wager the Ubisoft doesn't consider it a very good fit for the Wii.

I guess it can but Ubisoft won´t bother.

With some money, some talent and some time, everything is possible...

But if Nintendo has money, talent and time, plus the inner knowledge of the console's architecture, others are way too lazy, or way too insecure, to use the (supposedly too limited) hardware to its best...

But of course, they could do it easily on another famous SD console, weaker than the GC, itself weaker than Wii...

But it then took 2 or 3 years to take to best out of the (hard to program for) PS2, and this while treating it like the market leader from day one, with a lot of dedication and patience... all the best PS2 games were out between 2002 and 2006, and not in 2000 or 2001... people easily forget...

If some devs finally try their best on Wii, receive the money from the investors, take all the time needed, and show us their incredible talent, it will be so late that their games won't be ready before 2011 at best...

Bad management, you've said bad management? Yeah, "everybody" thought the PS360 were the sure shots, and the Wii the failure... no money for the Wii, no time for the Wii, no talent for the Wii... we saw the results, thanks... how can anybody be surprised the 1st party titles are so dominant in such a landscape?

and an ugly drawing in 1080p will stay ugly forever..."

Let's see what Red Steel 2 looks like.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.

Plus, just for the hell of it: Kelly Brook at the 2008 BAFTAs

As it is their is too much fill rate requirement for the Wii. if they toned down the textures. Then yes this game would work. It's just that often developers to get away with an easy answer will say. "The Wii can't handle the game" often ignoring the fact that the game play engine is capable since the PS1 days.

Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.

Prince of Persia was never a good series.

Okay, did you ever play the Sands of Time?

Crusty VGchartz old timer who sporadically returns & posts. Let's debate nebulous shit and expand our perpectives. Or whatever.

That engine, no. Because it is based in the "assasin's creed" one that runs in High definition. They can create a version of that engine to run in the wii..the point is if Ubisoft wants to..

I hope so..I would like to try that game :(
