Forums - Nintendo - Phantom Brave Wii a flop?

never heard of it

Around the Network

Never heard of it either. Looks like it has nice cover art though

"SRPG's don't normally sell well.

I'm not sure if Phantom Brave is a SRPG or just an RPG though...but it's already known that SRPG's don't normally sell"

It sold pretty well on PS2 though, 150,000 in Japan alone - the same number as Disgaea 2.

However, there's obviously a world of difference between Disgaea 2 Portable and Phantom Brave Wii sales.

It's a SRPG.

It's like Disgaea except it uses a ring system instead of a grid system.

Your soldiers only have a limited amount of turns they can act before they disapear (they're manifested spirits)

and you have more attacks that you learn from various objects that range from swords, spellbooks, Trees and handcarts.

"quick-n-dirty port"

Not unless the engine was designed for easy porting (since consoles don't have direct X to make different components play nice). Otherwise the different architectures will make porting more work than a lot of you think.

What porting does save is time, since they already completed it.

EDIT: This contradicts past statements I have made somewhat, but I'll start a thread about why soon.

A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
