Forums - Nintendo Discussion - Fire Emblem is a difficult series, I don't know if you guys have heard

Shh! Don't tell him that before after he's gone through hell! On my first Hard playthrough, I was owned like hell on 4th and 5th floor. Now that I knew it, it wasn't that hard.

Still, the final boss of FE10 (no spoilers) is very hard, and definitely the hardest among the series.

On a semi-related note, I'm playing Advance Wars (1) for the first time now. I played the latest one on DS, but it was rather dissapointing. This one (1), however is a lot of fun. Well, untill the CO-powers started for real at least...

Advance wars is fun, but you don't really get the same FE feeling (without the fear of losing someone takes away something).

I think I attacked the BK 2-3 times before realizing the floor thing, but I don't know how you could miss anything like that on the last 3 levels.  The floor pattern on there requires careful examination (it is cleverly hidden as art design).  In the second last level, you almost need to move your entire team as a group to avoid being destroyed (those damn sprites jump on any weakness).

It was really quite simple; Only take high resistance units, and give canto to one that can rescue Ike.

And yeah, AW is nowhere near FE, but it's still pretty fun.

When I write Fact: in one part of the post, and opinion: (or a similar word), it's not because I can then say "my opinion can't be wrong". It is to inform what part is pure facts, and which part I try to draw a conclusion in.

There. I did it. I beat the game. The last battle was hard, though it wasn't as hard as the equivalent fight in Knights of Lodis.

That game was hard. That final battle was hard. I had to leave Sanaki behind because whenever Ashera fired up her single-target magic attack, she would aim for the little empress, double-hit her, and fry her.

Reyson with the Laguz orb, a fully upgraded Caneighis and Kurthnaga, a boosted Tibarn, and some help from Ike and Shinon are all you need, if you can keep them healed.

Nephenee was my MVP. Haar was second. Ike was third.

Good game.

Can I call myself a Fire Emblem fan now?

I just thought of a mistake...

On "Light Mage" it says "Micaiah of the Dawn Brigade, the only user of Light Magic not bound to Clergy", or something like that.

Well, what about Sanaki? She can't use staves so she isn't connected to clergy, is she?

Sanaki is the Apostle, the head of the church of Ashera. You can't be more bound to clergy than she is.

Advance Wars is a turn-based strategy game.  Fire Emblem is a strategy role-playing game.

If you like turn-based strategy games like Advance Wars, I suggest checking out Gadget Trial:

i could never get beyond the ship mission in fire emblem(advance) were you have to survive for eleven turns, i know i can beat it, but not without loosing a couple of soldiers and since i want to win the game without a loosing any of them, im fucked.

Valid point, I guess you're right.

And WoW, I'll definitely check out Gadget Trial. I tried to download the demo, but... that did not work at all. All that happens is a heckload of ????s, and when I press anything, more ???s arrive.

Gadget Trial is a Japanese game at heart which means you need to put your PC into Japanese mode:

Control Panel -> Regional and Language Options -> Languages (tab) -> Install files for East Asian Languages (requires WinXP CD)

Control Panel -> Regional and Language Options -> Advanced (tab) -> select "Japanese" in the top drop-down box.

There are full English translations for both the demo and full game which you can find here.

For some reason my game file did not transfer over when I played RD. I still have not unwrapped Shadow dragon yet but I'll get to it :)
