I agree that for what it was LBP sold quite well. 

The issue many people take with it is that many (not all) Sony fans hyped it as something more than what it was (sales wise) ESPECIALLY as a system seller.

The fact that it was not to any significant degree is where the disappointment comes from.

The same can be said for a lot of PS3 exclusive titles, and this hype is the reason we regularly run into this problem with Sony exclusives but not MS or Ninty ones.

i personally thought Gears 2 sales did not live up to the sales hype either so don't call me a fanoby.

Littlebigplanet and KZ2 are the two biggest sales disappointments for sony this generation.

If Sony dropped the price to $300 tomorrow I guarantee we would still have people complaining that it is too expensive.

Whilst I agree in part with your post, the fact is the PS3 would still be too expensive at that price.  Three years (by the time they actually drop it) a console should not still cost $300 for its cheapest rendition unless it is selling out.

 

Period.

Are you kidding?  Sony fans were the first to tell us how great the PS3 is at pushing shooters after the last two Call of Duty's.  Just last week there was a popular thread about the ever decreasing gap versus Xbox 360 sales.

I agree that internet hype does not equal world hype.  But then he didnt say that it is the real world to whom the sales are disappointing.  Ironically, the internet hypers are disappointed because not enough real-worlders even know about the game to be disappointed by its sales.

Show me where I said that starcraft....show me. Otherwise, you're not exactly known for ANYTHING positive being said in regards to sony. Knowing this, there's nothing for me to argue with you about....period.

I didnt say ANYWHERE that YOU said that.  You just make up silly excuses to ignore posts from people like me that disagree with your own so that you dont have to engage with the content.

Fans of the PS3 such as myself want it to do well.  And of course people like me want price drops so that we can afford one.  But that doesn't mean we buy into the ridiculous fanfare surrounding some games for the system.

You would have to admit that this game was hyped to hell on this site.

So you could say that sales are dissapointing compared to say H3 or Gears2.

 

Not at all.

Halo 3 came off a franchise where each game averaged 6-7M+ sold.

Gears2 came off a game with a 6M+ userbase.

Killzone 2 came off a game with a 2M+ userbase.


Halo 3 launched in the holiday season along with a price cut.

Gears 2 launched in the holiday season along with a price cut.

Killzone 2 launched in February with a $400 price tag that hadn't dropped for more than 14 months.

 

How easy it is to ignore everything isn't it. Not to mention that Killzone 2 internet hype has no relevance to real world hype so basing success or disappointment off that is already a mistake.

 

Funny that really I remember last year the PS3 was going to be pwning 360 without a price cut.

Now there most hyped games are not selling because of no price cut,.

I also remember gears one came off a similar install base as PS3.

Still no doubt I am incorrect.

The hype generated here has nothing to do with whether a game is a disappointment sales wise. The reason you see Sony exclusives getting attacked as much as we do isn't to do with people being excited for their games while release approaches (even though that is such a stupid reason, what, they can't be excited for games?) I think people just get a kick out of attacking anything said or done by Sony.

Take this thread for example, we have many Sony attacks here and majority are completely off the topic at hand.
