I am going to guess this is only EU+others sales.
The DSi released there on Friday, which would give it Friday+Saturday sales.
In the US it released on Sunday, which would make it 3-days and also cut into a second weeks worth of sales.

I know they were testing a program at Disney World in the last year where a DS could inform you of line wait times in the park you were at. I don't know if it was successful or if it is currently in use, but I do think that's a creative use for the DS.
