Forums - Microsoft - The Secret World 360 console exclusive.

Looks great, but that was definitely CGI. I can't wait to see real in game footage for that game.

PC is an open platform, but is this game going to run on Unix, OSX, etc? If not, it's still MS exclusive. Besides which, all those you listed, were at the very least timed exclusives, and guess what? 90% of their sales came from the 360. You could even say "Halo games go to the PC! Not exclusive! LULZ", but the fact remains that the 3 Halo FPS games have tallied over 23m sales on the 360, and calling them anything but exclusive is semantics.

Yes, it is going to run on any platform with a recent Wine version. So no, it's not a MS exclusive.

But saying a game is a 360 console exclusive is clear enough, I don't understand the fracas.

That is bullshit. Not every game runs on wine and there are a lot of problems with newer games.  Of course if you don't mind missing sound/multiplayer or like games that crash a lot then you are good to go.

I tried few games just to know will they work and oh my god that was terrible. GTA IV did not even start, crysis crashes in every 10 seconds, farcry 2 has very low framerate (60 on windows, max 10 on wine). Mass effect was pretty ok, but it had a lot of glitches and lower framerate than running on windows.

Games are also going to be slow and stuttering and crash prone on weirdly updated configuration of Windows, in conflicts with antivrus software or on old hardware. All those problems are fixable. So is Wine's compatibility.

The point was that only because a game was written for Windows does not mean you need Windows to run it. You only need a PC with an OS with an implementation of the required libraries, such as Wine aims to provide.

Aims but fails miserably. Let me know when you can run GTA IV on wine and please tell me how you made it happen. :)

One could also say that Windows PCs failed miserably to run Crysis 90% of the time when it came out ;) Things get better.

PS: Sorry, not a GTA lover here... I was satisfied the day I got HL2 working, and that happened a long time ago. After that, not much Wine tinkering for me.

So you can run a game from... 2004 on wine and you say that "this game will run on wine"? Wow.

That looked really good. I just want to see some actual gameplay.

Not a 360 fanboy, just a PS3 fanboy hater that likes putting them in their place ^.^

Love the video. She looks llike my wife! awesome.
And Yay! It's 360 exclusive!
I was getting worried a little about 360 games - hope they more up their sleeves.

Damn, according to the reactions here in this thread, you guys want this on the PS3 so bad. Okay, that was mean in a way and I am sorry. But if this would be a PS3/PC game, the same guys hating in this thread would be on a posting-spree gathering any piece of information to hype this game up. Check Haze, LBP, Killzone, Getaway etc. (not judging the quality of the games) The hype was crazy.

@topic

Looking forward to it. But I need more information to judge. It looks really great, but I never ever played a MMO. Maybe I will give it a try.

I can't wait for Alan Wake to come out.

Heavens to Murgatoids.

Way to - repeatedly - miss the point.

My point was that having the Windows logo on the box of a game does not imply you'll have to use a MS OS to run it. Any sufficiently updated Wine implementation will work. It was the answer to the idea that it is a "MS exclusive because you need Windows to run it". That makes as much sense as saying that any game relying on your NVIDIA card drivers' OpenGL implementation is a "NVIDIA exclusive".

Will this game work on Wine when it comes out? I don't know, we'll have to try it. Will it work eventually? Pretty sure it will, unless the whole Wine project disappears in a black hole.
