Forums - Gaming - Call Of Duty 4 Problem

I've got 2 PS3s, 2 COD4s and 1 router but it doesnt allow us to play at the same time. If one is playing COD4 online the other cant connect.(Keeps displaying "downloading game settings")

Is this router problem and does anyone have a solution?

Don't get annoyed at me for asking this as it's probably really obvious, but are you using the same PSN account? If you are then try on a seperate account.

Could be that the game tries to connect using the same ports on the router and finds them already in use? Should be a way to get the game/PS3(2) to use different ports. If not, it may be that they (game servers) won't let you connect two from the same IP. I'm not sure as my networking knowledge is a bit limited. Maybe try contacting Activision &/or Sony. Sorry if this isn't helping much.

ive done that with 360 and had no problem . . .

i really have no idea

maybe its something you can change in your router?

id suggest typing the exact problem into google tbh.

Last year's game of the year turned out to be Silent Hill : Shattered Memories (online GOTY was COD 6).  This year's GOTY leader to me is Heavy Rain.

Scoobes,

I'm using 2 different PSN accounts.

I've even DMZed one of the PS3s too which was suggested by someone. I have one PS3 wired and the other Wireless.

I'm really not sure then. I don't think the wired/wireless would be a problem. What router are you using?

Well, if you just want to play each other, setting up a LAN game would work fine.

But if you want to play on the internet, then there could be some confusion over the data going through the "router".

Scoobes,

Its a Belkin G Plus Router.

I think you may need to open up more ports on the router to get the game to work with both consoles. Try contacting Infinity Ward, Activision or Sony and see which ports need to be open. At least one of them should already be open as it's connecting with 1 of the PS3's, but maybe for the 2nd to connect another alternative port needs to be opened.
