Fazz, technically it was present in IV and V, you just didn't see it in IV.

And wait, after starting at 9 and 8, you thought 7 looked great? 7 was a virgin in 3d technology and it showed.

no not in graphics, of course not, i mean in the way things were equiped and how the battle unfolded.

8 had FANTASTIC graphics, best of its time, but the junction system was a little annoying drawing things in, and the love story, was really great, but i found ff7 to be more my type, though 8 had a fantastic story

9 i just didnt like, i dont know why, gameplay was good, graphics were good, just i hated having the man character have a TAIL!, i dont know maybe just me.

I only wanted to post to defend ff 7 a little bit cause in MY opinion, it is a fantastic game and is one of my favorites of all time

just to throw in my two cents... ffvii was the first ff i ever played and i think it was the best as well. after that i went back and played v and vi as well, they were good too, but i still liked vii better. after that, my second favorite was viii, then xii(the new battle system is much better than random battles) i didn't like ix, and hated x, it was complete crap... all b/c of blitzball, oh i despise that game.

lol 10 had worst battle system, but story was nice

I just picked up a new copy of FF VII for $100, gotta love game stores like gametraders that know what people want, and the value of a good classic.

Yeah, FF7 is damn expensive these days. Go look at Amazon. used copies go for around 70 dollars I think, new ones for well over 100.

7 was great because it was the first big mainstream RPG. After FF7 RPGs were THE genre to play. It's because of that that the PSX beat the 64 so bad. RPGs. By now JRPGs have gotten old and stale, and you don't see many of them anymore, and they certainly don't sell like they used to. Now FPSs are THE genre to play. I wonder how long until those get stale, and what will replace them.

Gamestop was selling FF7 for ~14 right before they got rid of their PSX games, and that was just about a year ago.

Anything over $30 for this game is way way to much IMHO

I don't know where you people shop....I got a brand new copy of FF7 for 15 bucks like a year ago...worth it, by the way, that game kicked ass. And the graphics have actually aged rather well, with the exception of everyone being modeled after Popeye. Also, voice acting would KILL FF7. I HATE voice acting, I would much rather read the dialogue than listen to some lame ass read it, and it takes less time. At least in Japan they understand the importance of good voice actors...I'd even settle for voice acting with subtitles, so long as they leave the original Japanese in place, because often it doesn't localize well even if the voice actor doesn't suck. For all I care, they could remake it with NO changes at all aside from graphical upgrades, maybe some new weapons and materia, and I would still pay 50 bucks or more for it.

P.S. if you want to dispute my point about the voice acting, try to imagine how Barrett would sound in that game if they gave him a voice actor. Also, I know he had one in FF AC, but I refuse to watch that movie in English after the first minute or so, so I don't know if he sucks as bad as the rest of the English voice actors in that movie.

Anyone paying $100 for Final Fantasy VII is getting ripped off in a truly intense way. You should be able to find it for $10 if you look in the right places.
