NoE says no Fatal Frame IV in Europe

April 8th, 2009

North American readers, are you still trying to get over the fact that Fatal Frame IV isn’t coming to North America? Well our European friends may soon be dealt the same crushing blow. Word has it that the title won’t even see release in Europe.

Reader discipleinagony has gotten in touch with a Greek product manager has said that the game hasn’t popped up on any retailer list from NoE yet, which definitely doesn’t point to anything good. On top of that, NoE has just issued a statement to SPOnG that says “there are currently no plans to release this game in Europe.”

This is one of those things that Nintendo fans should be extremely riled up over. If Nintendo is going to tell us that they support the core, then they need to give out a detailed explanation as to why Fatal Frame IV isn’t going to be localized.

Which makes sense, because Tecmo, not Nintendo, is the one who's putting ads for Fatal Frame in European gaming mags.

Note that Tecmo's logo is in the ad, but Nintendo's isn't.

fucking bullshit. I love grasshopper manufacturer and this game should be brought over now. Someone needs to start a petition and get the blood boiling!

In other words, it may come out by neither KT or NOA/NOE.

I like to jump around, and would lead a fairly serene and aimless existence if it weren't for my friends always getting into trouble. I love to help out, even when it puts me at risk. I seem to make friends with people who just can't stay out of trouble.

It is pretty worrying that Nintendo won't bring out Disaster or Fatal Frame NA side. Makes me wonder about all those titles they announced at their conference.

Hypocrisy...hypocrisy.......

If that's the case, then I wonder WHO will be the one to publish the game if it's neither one of those two?    Ubisoft?

Either way, this is a serious issue that needs to have a "damage control" action executed, and soon.

BTW, for what it's worth, I found this post on Nintendo World Report concerning this. This is from one of the staff members there.

"It seems to me like IGN got the standard PR response from Tecmo. Their hands are clearly tied. I just don't see how IGN takes the word of Tecmo alone and some statement made from Reggie a year ago, put it together and deduce that the game will never come out here.

Until everyone involved comes straight out and says "We will never release this in America" I don't believe this for a minute. You know what, as a matter of fact, if we don't hear anything before E3 I will make it my personal mission to find out what's going on with this game for you guys. "

Could it be that it's difficult to translate?

Chances are, they evaluated that it's not worth bringing to NA, profit wise.

I think this guy hit the nail on the head. How much do you guys think the game could possibly sell in NA? Wasn't FF a ps2 IP in the past if I'm not mistaken? I doubt the game even sold well on the "mighty" ps2

there is obviously a third party sitting on the license......grrrr

hopefully Reggie gets badgered at E3 mercilessly, so he fesses up what he knows
