I'm an avid multiplayer gamer. I even go so far as to skip many single player campaigns and just jump right into multiplayer with a new game. As such, I am wondering what your favourite multiplayer experiences have been this gen. I'm particularly interested to hear from some PS3 owners as I only own a 360 and Wii at the moment but plan on grabbing a PS3 within the next couple of weeks, and I'd like to know which game(s) to grab with it.

For me the "best" multiplayer game so far is still Halo 3, even though I am currently having a blast on both Halo Wars and Mario kart Wii. Halo 3 just seems almost flawlessly polished, and balanced, and you can really tell that the devs had competetive gaming in mind when they designed many of the maps and weapons. Sure, it doesn't look as good as KZ2, or have as many features as CoD4, but at it's core I think Halo 3 is the pinnacle of console multiplayer so far this gen.

If I am wrong, convince me otherwise because I'm always open to new games, and I'm always seeking that next game to get borderline addicted to!

So in conlcusion, for me anyway....

Best- Halo 3

Most fun at the moment- Halo Wars/Mario kart Wii

the original game has the best all round experience, good weapons, good characthers and a good 4v4 experience, maps were good also

on the Wii, its Super Smash Bros Brawl

For local multiplayer, LittleBigPlanet is extremely fun. It's not really the same online, but local multiplayer can be extremely fun with a couple of friends.

This is probably my personal favorite, but I'm not into online gaming really.

Is Brawl more of a party game that's a blast to play with 2-4 people on one screen or is it better online?

I fail to see how anything can rival the juggernaut of COD4. I was a hater too until I played it when I was in calgary for three weeks hanging out at the hotel. I loved gears as well, but no comparison.

not on 360 i would say MKWii is awesome on the wii, and I love playing tetris against people on ds.

but seriously aside form starcraft, ive never played a game online as much as COD4

im gonna give special mention to splinter cell 4 online too, tons of fun if you liek stealth.
