Forums - Nintendo - Wii Fit Results Thread

So, I grabbed Wii Fit within 2 weeks of it being released (sold out everywhere, but thank god for HMV), and I got right into it bigtime.  Did the full yoga, and then 30 minutes of whatever else everyday.  Now I'm still doing it and its been months.  I've lost just over 20 pounds using it, and it's stayed off.

I'm curious if anyone else has been religous with it and had results?  I'm kind of sick of reading dudes bash the game.  Maybe it's not a game (though the balance games are tons of fun), but it's an awesome tool.

So yeah how's it going for you guys?

Last year's game of the year turned out to be Silent Hill : Shattered Memories (online GOTY was COD 6).  This year's GOTY leader to me is Heavy Rain.

I don't own one but it's interesting to hear that you lost 20 lbs.

Pixel Art can be fun.

Ive been working out everyday for 30 days and ever since i have been using wii fit I lost 8 pounds so far althought on day i gained 6 pounds over night because of water retention but droped it again.

I own it since release. I started with 105 kg and being obese. Right now my weight is 62 kg. My BMI is 22 which means I have reached my perfect BMI according to Wii-Fit.
In the past few weeks I switched from Wii-Fit to My Fitness Coach to improve some other regions of my body. (Cardio Training, Upper body Training.)

It's nice to hear that I am not the only one, who got results with Wii-Fit.

Wow, that's sound great!! GOOD JOB GUYS!!

I've lost about 20 pounds so far (over 10 months), and that's slowly improving. I think for me its less about time spent exercising and more about accountability - my eating habits have changed because I know if I pig out that darn balance board is going to ask me why I suddenly gained two pounds.

Coming up on 300 days of ownership. I was slim to begin with so I got it for general fitness more than to lose weight but have shed 5 lbs. I do 15 minutes/day, 6 days a week avg and it keeps me looking firm and fit.

I am looking at getting either My Fitness Coach, EA Sport Active or Gold's Gym Cardio Workout for more of an upper body workout though.

"My fitness coach" is a straight port of the game "Yourself fitness" (X-Box, PS2, PC). This means it uses none of the specific Wii functionalities. (No balance board support, no wiimote exercises) It is still a very good game, but in my oppinion it is not suited for beginners (like me a year ago). I know, that if I had started with "My fitness coach" instead of "Wii-Fit", I would have quit the fitness stuff and had no results.

The approaches of "Wii-fit" and "My fitness coach" are very different. "Wii-Fit" is interactive and you can see if you do an exercise wrong. Because of this, "Wii fit" is unique (until now, at least on the european market).

"My fitness coach" tries to mimic a fitness DVD. Don't understand me wrong, it is definately better than any fitness DVD on the market. Because it uses your data to evaluate the optimal workout for you. And it can combine your exercises with the following equipment: Heart Monitor, Stepping Board, Gymnastic Ball and Hand Weights. Another plus for the program is, that it has more exercises than "Wii-fit". However, there is no interactivity between the user and the wii during the exercises.

Conclusion: I would only recommend "My fitness coach" to people, who have already experiences on the fitness sector. It is great to train the upper body region (especially if you use hand weigths) and cardio.

If you check the numbers for the game on vgchartz, than you can see that this game is on the way to become one of the Wii-Millionsellers. And in my oppinion it deserves it. (I really hope that Ubisoft or responDesign make a sequel and use some of the wii functionalities.)
