Proof of quality and quantity

@bardicverse

Theres nothing stupid about facts, sony has bigger first party studio then nintendo and MS combined

Oh but there is about this one. See, Sony's first party is severely lackluster compared to Nintendo's. So by boasting of a larger first party, they are saying that with a bigger staff, they still can't compete with Nintendo's first party, which apparently is smaller. Thus, in turn, it can be translated that he is saying Sony's first party dev teams aren't nearly as talented as Nintendo's.

Keep clinging to your Mario games while Sony's devs continue to push out new IPs......

Sony killed off Eights Days and The Getaway to make "casual" games in teh vein of Nintendos current successes. If I remember right one of those planned replacementsis going to be a pet simulator ala Nintendogs, but that may have been a rumor.

Either way, you shouldn't be getting cocky. I wouldn't be surprised if their new IPs are surprising, and in ways you'll dislike.

And what about all the other non-casual games they're making.  Don't be surprised if Sony continues to turn out the most non-casual, highly-rated games.  I won't be surprised if they also throw in some casual.

@bardicverse:   Sony's games are very well-received and well-reviewed, so it looks like your opinion doesn't have much basis.  Plus, way to try to counter an objective fact about size of studios with, basically, the sentiment "but Sony sucks..."  Reviews and our own eyes, tastes, and experiences tell us that you are wrong.

Point is they are killing off these 'core' projects that differenciate them from Nintendo to try and make games that emulate Nintendos.

Just because a game is in development know doesn't mean it wont be released. Don't count on anything until its hit the shelves.

I just call it like I see it. If I made a mistake, my bad.

Still doesn't make you correct in saying that Sony brings no new ideas to the table.

Well, maybe I'm biased, not going to argue that =) I'm just following the common belief that Sony isn't know for it's "innovation" into gaming being compared to Ninty efforts. Usually "common beliefs" have some true inside, at least a little. That's subjective for sure just beacuse of the fact there're no measure for "innovation" regardless of what you understand by so called "innovation". I choose to believe what suit me better, like you I assume =)

I agree with you there.

I take whatever suits me best, regardless of what platform it is on.

New IP != new ideas, pls gimme some examples of new ideas in Sony games on PS3 besides LBP. As I've already said once you could swap names in Resistance and Killzone and it won't make any difference, but you couldn't do that with SMG and SPM, 'cos those are very different games, the last one is even pretty different from previous Paper Mario games like it or not.

Well, sounds a little bit fanboyish =) but that's how I feel.

Never played Eye of Judgment, Pain, Flower, Killzone 2 (FPS cover system?), Resistance 2 (Where did you find another console shooter with 8-player online co-op with seperate story along with 60 man multiplayer?).

I am sure I can find plenty more, but acting like LBP was the only one is far from the truth.

Me and my girlfriend have found the game to be extremely fun, enough to spend around $200 on booster packs.

How you like that?

I decide what games are fun., not some reviewer who obviously has different tastes than I do.

Not to mention, the post you quotes had nothing to do with being fun or hacing tons of features, it was in response to a post about Sony not bringing anything new to the table.

So features mean nothing when judging a game? mmmmmkay...

And certain features appeal to certain gamers, making the game fun.  Go figure...

I too don't get the criticism, but whatever. All Sony has to do is keep the games coming, everything else (including all this useless criticizing) means nothing. This statement is a fact, why are people getting so upset, it's ridiculous.

Because Koller is an airhead

Personally I like what Sony is doing, but the notion that larger studios and manpower automatically equals better game development, sends out a huge redflag about Sony's synchronicity IMO. But OK.

See nothing wrong with that statement considering it is true. What I do mind is people trying to make this into a negative, some people on this forum are beyond pathetic.

I think this thread is largely a product of fear at what the future holds.  That's why people can hate so much a perfectly legitimate statement indicating Sony's huge capability to produce exclusive games.  That's what Koller was getting at: size of studios obviously translates into games over time.  Not surprising that some people here just don't like to hear it!

So you're sayin that Nintendo fans are afraid of Sony?

If anything its payback for the last two gens when Sony fans constantly tore down the N64 and GC. Paybacks a bitch, so to speak.

Most of what I've heard is bragging Nintendo bragging about sales over the PS3 and 360, but if the statement in the OP can be viewed as "talking shit" then that can be viewed as talking shit as well. I know there was something else but I can't really remember. I do know that Nintendo weren't the best to their 3rd parties a few generations ago.

Bragging about sales - that's what companies usually do. Ninty, MS, Sony etc. Give me some quotes like this:

"Nintendo knows its target audience, because it has really narrowed that down; and it's pretty much defined by a boy or girl's ability to admire Pokemon."

That was insulting. I'm not even into all this Pokemon frenzy =)
