You copied my thread :(

lol....OT: Yup, as I said in the other thread, the Unreal Engine 3 has definitely been shown up.

"The graphics are just about the same, doing a graphics comparsion is just overkill IMO,this comparsion is *moot*"

Until we see a full game, nothing is guaranteed. From this footage, however, IMO the CryEngine 3 wins hands down.

If I show you the Geforce 7800GTX demo and that beats every PS3/360 game, do I get to say that the tech demo is better than every PS3/360 game?

Unreal Engine 3 changes at GDC 09 in case anyone was wondering. The PSU article seems to have missed that entirely.

Interesting.

the CryEngine 3 "rapes" the Unreal Engine 3;  it looks waaaaaaaaaaay more real

I'm pretty sure you can declare yourself "king of nerdy geeky dweebs" when you begin to insist that Tech Engine [X] "rapes" Tech Engine [Y].

I mean, I normally don't comment on this stuff. Graphics whores will be, and I tend to leave them as is after years of fighting with them. But honestly, my preferred tech engine is better than your preferred tech engine stretches this e-peen war past my level of toleration.

I'm not threatening to ban you or anything. I'm just threatening to think of you as a total loser.

READ the post again

And it's bolded now, so re-read before you post again. You clearly misunderstood me.

See the bolded again. I was merely pointing out that your 'IMO' was baseless.

Sooo... are there any games announced with te Cryengine 3

Face the future.. Gamecenter ID: nikkom_nl (oh no he didn't!!)

While I'm willing to give the CryEngine better props. it's mostly becuase the developers are newer and can adapt a new engine to current technologies rather than upgrading an old engine.

The comparisons in regards to the above screenshots is invalid though. Would I compare Simpons Boxing to MGS4? or how about LBP to GTA4? While I admit to using extremes in these cases they are just as valid. Elements like art direction are completly important. What more effective is to get essentially the same scene with benchmark values over pure visual designs.

Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.

^ See the maximum edit I made before you made that post.

Realism isn't very creative

PC + Wii owners unite.  Our last-gen dying platforms have access to nearly every 90+ rated game this gen.  Building a PC that visually outperforms PS360 is cheap and easy.    Oct 7th 2010 predictions (made Dec 17th '08)
PC: 10^9
Wii: 10^8

Sheesh you guys will argue about anything.

Both engines are nice, both will see constant upgrades, both will not see games on new versions for quite a while assuming they are starting development now.

In addition we will soon have ID Tech 5, the first ID engine designed from the ground up to support PC and consoles.

It's going to be interesting. My short view of each would be:

1) Unreal - good balance of advanced features with easy to use tools and widespread use

2) Crytek - slightly more powerful engine (currently) and easier to use level editor, but less familiar tools overall and much less widespread use

3) ID - the old masters. They dropped the ball and allowed Epic to run away with engine licensing on PC, but if anyway can suddenly produce the best goods I'd still bet on Carmack and I'm really looking forward to what they deliver with ID Tech 5.

I'm actually glad there will be more engines kicking around (and there is of course the new KZ engine on PS3 as well as Source apparently getting an upgrade) as this will hopefully see developers given better choice and less of the 'it all looks like Unreal' syndrome that U3 games have suffered from - even Gears sufferes from this if you've been a long time PC gamer and played many Unreal Engine based games.,

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...
