I guess they didnt put Super Smash Bros. since it isnt a traditional fighting game like the ones they listed.

Smash bros pwns all those game, but that might be my fanboyism talking.... Still deserves to be somewhere in that top 10 though. It's a lot better then street fighter.

I've had lots of fun with streetfighter on the gameboy though(atleast I think it was the gameboy, can't remember a lot of it bc I was very young). Also had lots of fun with soul blade. What a game!

They didn't put Smash Bros. on it because it is too epic for such an inferior list. :P

the way i see it, this is the top ten fighting game franchises and not top ten fighting games,,,,, capcom versus comprises different games (capcom vs marvel, street fighter vs marvel, xmen vs street fighter, capcom vs snk.....), and mortal kombat's 2d games cannot compare to mortal kombat 3d games,,,,,

my top ten is:

1- KOF 1998
2- Street fighter 2
3- Tekken 5
4- Samurai Showdown 2
5- Mortal Kombat 2
6- Fatal fury 3
7- Soul blade
8- Capcom vs Snk 2
9- Guilty gear XX
10- Super street fighter 2 turbo X

DoA is nowhere on that list because it's goddamn awful.

Street fighter is of course number one..... tekken, Soul Cal and DOA are complete clones of VF series and this list is dead on. Mortal kombat died completedly when it went to 3-D.

I like all fighting games but Please Street fighter is the best always was will be for a very long time.

Anyone who thinks Any game but VF takes more skill then SF series is crazy.

And your saying SSB isn't a fighting franchise? Or its not a franchise because it only had 3 games.

Doesn't Killer Instinct have like couple of games, just ported on other consoles and stuff?

Do any of those games have as much content as super smash bros brawl anway? I'm not saying that they don't, but I just don't know it.
You have a massive roster of very cool characters in super smash bros and the combat system is pretty good if I can say so myself. There's also a lot of stages from Nintendo games and the stages keep changing when you fight in them! You can even make your own stages and unlock tons of stuff as well. There's also tons of modes in them and super smash bros aint your typical KO fighter. It uses a better system imo to win the fight(Damage% to knock someone of a stage)

I don't really care if it's not a typical fighter, it still is a fighter game! I guess some people can't look beyond "mature" games.

People moaning about SF being a reflex game. Thats what fighting is about.
