Forums - Sony - UT3 PS3 framerate

hi
after seeing the great support from epic I decided to buy UT3 for ps3 and I have to say I am impressed.
the best thing is you can play with mouse and keyboard.
anyway I just tested warfare on the map torlan and I noticed some framerate problems. most of the time the framerate was solid but with 6 or more bots on screen with heavy action going on the framerate did suffer.
I read somewhere that the ps3 version has a very smooth framerate. Is there a problem with my copy or ps3 or does anyone else have this problem?

The PS3 version I played also had framerate issues. But it ws a long time ago, i suppose it got better since then.

God i hate fanboys, almost as much as they hate facts

I updated to 2.0 but the game still suffers from framerate problems.
I have to test other maps and modes to see if they have problems too.
thanks for the quick response,though.

I never played the PS3/Xbox versions of Unreal III but what is the normal frame rate for the Ps3, 30fps or 60fps ?

I do own it on the PC and frame rates are 60fps constant, high details @ 1680 x 1050

PC gaming rules.....

i think it's 30fps for consoles and 60 for pc

Consoles are very weak compared to the PC.

The PS3, in particular, seems to have framerate problems in high end FPS games.  The reported Killzone 2 framerates have been well below 30 most of the time.  And UT3 seems to suffer from the same very low framerate issue.

Generally speaking, you want about twice the framerate as you can see.  So if you can see the difference between 30 and 35 FPS, you'll probably want about 70 fps.  This is because input is lagged two frames in the case of standard double buffering, and three frames in the case of triple buffering.  For casual shooter fans, input lag might not even be something they notice but for hardcore competitive FPS fans, you want to mitigate input lag to the extent possible.

I haven't played any of the UT3 maps, but who made the warfare map?  If it's a community map then that really isn't Epic's problem.

I haven't had any framerate issues.....

Sure twesterm, considering warfare is a gameplay mode....
on topic: there are some minor framerate problems from time to time. Nothing that can ruin the game.

oh lol, I thought he was playing a map called warFare.  Like I said, I haven't played UT3 yet.  I only bought it for the editor.
