Forums - Gaming - Why would anyone but Wii owners care about The Conduit?

What's the conduit? A game featuring Mario finally repairing conduits instead of screwing around with mushrooms, monkeys, turtles and sluttish princesses?

Well.. I'm foremost a PC gamer and I'm pretty fed up with shooters on my favourite platform, really (yeah and I did also play the newer ones like Bioshock and Unreal Tournament 3).

I'm looking forward to The Conduit because I want to pwn people on my couch - without analog sticks. I don't really suck at them(I've once been a big Halo fanboy :S ), but I find them meh. After experiencing the Wii Controls on Metroid Prime 3, I think I found the best alternative to mouse and keyboard so far.

^Heh, saying that you look stupid holding the Wii Remote is hardly a good reason to bash a game.

It just shows that you are insecure.

Its not so much about being insecure. At some point you gotta step back and say "how retarded does this look?"

Eitherway lets get back to The Conduit. Will it be a Halo 3 killer?

Of course its not going to be a Halo 3 killer. But no one ever said that (or did I miss anything?)

Quickness can be pretty important considering how fast you can die in a game like World at War. Also accuracy I find most people have better aim on a joystick. But whatever... Wiimote is the better option.

The conduit will have a 180 degree spin button. This isn't a shovelware game they're making here... HVS is really trying to make a decent game for the wii. This game will be great, not Halo great, but great.

Another thing that goes in favor of the wii is that control with the wii mote for shooters is just more fun then pc+ mouse even though it's not as accurate. It's also more fun then dual analog imo. Games are about having fun right?

I own Wii and 360.  I have absolutely no interest in playing any shooting game on 360.  This offers me a better experience than what I could ever have on PS360 simply due to the controls.

Well, first off, the topic title is misleading. I went in here expecting to be able to write "Of course only Wii owners will care, they're the only ones who can play it", but then you apparently meant that if you own any other console you wouldn't care about The Conduit...

Let me ask, why is this? I own a 360. I'm getting The Conduit first day. Can you give me a reason why people who own PS3/360/PC as well as a Wii should not care about The Conduit? Particularly PC/Wii-gamers seem very interested since this is a FPS on a console that actually doesn't have crap controls.

So your reason why a PC gamer in particular should care about this game is because of its controls?  You would think this game would be a step back for PC gamers used to a gaming mouse and keyboard, very high resolution, superior graphics, superior physics, superior online, and some of the most revered FPS games in the genre.

No, video games are serious business. I don't find the Wiimote fun... I find games fun. When I'm playing Halo 3 online the last thing on my mind is "I wish I could do gestures with my control that affects what's happening in the game."

Well lets say a FPS game allowed for both 360 and Wii owners to play the same game online. Like some sort of online death match such as CoD World at War. Who do you think has the odds of performing better, people playing on a 360 control or people using a Wiimote?

Wii users would destroy 360 users, no contest.  To see what playing a Wii owner is like, plug your 360 gamepad into your PC, go to www.quakelive.com join a duel and RIP.

Pointing devices always beat a gamepad.  You can move faster, you can aim better.  A simple circle-strafe, at about 5 ft away will kill gamepad users, they turn so slow it's sad. Wiimote + Nunchuk is as close as Mouse + Keyboard as you can get.

PC + Wii owners unite.  Our last-gen dying platforms have access to nearly every 90+ rated game this gen.  Building a PC that visually outperforms PS360 is cheap and easy.    Oct 7th 2010 predictions (made Dec 17th '08)

A mouse yeah... a Wiimote no.

Do I need to repost that picture of Bizzaro Superman?

The Wii-mote for FPS takes some getting used to but when you have some skills there is no comparison, and i don't even think it's matter of opinion. You could say you prefer dual analogue or that you can't get used to the Wii-mote, fair enough, but dual analogue simply can't match the speed of the Wii-mote.

I didn't really have much interest in The Conduit at first but the more i see of it the more interested i get, i definitely have my eye on it now.
