Forums - Gaming - Why would anyone but Wii owners care about The Conduit?

This goes out to the Wii fans on here, first and foremost.  For MONTHS, The Conduit has been talked up on here as being something awesome and so on.  This developer's diary video makes it look kinda cool, in the customizing of the layout and so on:

http://www.gamespot.com/wii/action/theconduit/video/6204895/the-conduit-behind-the-scenes-1?hd=0

But, the impression I get from it is: If you only system you own is a Wii, and you don't have a PC, PS3 or 360, then this would be worth considering.

So, why should anyone else who owns a 360 or PS3 or PC that can play up to day FPS titles care about this?  One can argue for Metroid Prime doing something unique, and it is METROID after all.  But, the Conduit?  Why would anyone outside a Wii-only owner care about it and discuss it?

Contrast this with discussions of Unreal Tournament (for AI), Gears of War and Killzone 2 (for graphics), and Halo (number of mods and players online).  But the Conduit?  Seems to me like a poorman's alternative to a bunch of other games on more powerful systems. However, please correct me here.  Why should anyone who owns something else besides a Wii care about it?  Are we back to the world has to buy it so that the Wii gets more then Carnival Games?  Or, maybe it is to save Sega from going under.

Because they can play a game that looks great, with great customization, and with better controls :)

EDIT: Before I get called off, its opinion...

Well, giving quantifiable reasons to justify one getting excited is why this thread is here.

Now, as for looking great, don't you quantify that with: "For a Wii game"?  Not sure it holds up at all against Crysis, Gears 2 or Killzone 2.

Well, shit, I thought I was excited for The Conduit, but it looks like I can't be since I own a PS3 and a 360.

The pointer automatically makes the Wii the best possible thing for shooters. Add in all the crazy weapons, including the gun whos shots you direct with the pointer, and actually throwing grenads and having the force and direction determine where they go, cool online party system, and maybe the fact that it looks like it might just be a good game?

Could I trouble you for some maple syrup to go with the plate of roffles you just served up?

I fired a lot of barbs at Killzone 2 here when the discussion was going on, and critical in all manners of ways.  So, I feel it is fair to do the same with The Conduit.

Note that I do such with the interest of forming and changing an opinion, as I did with Killzone 2.

soo........... why buy any other game that comes out exclusively on any system. Seriously. There are always other games out there that may or may not do a genre better than it does, but the fact remains that a quality game is a quality game. Hell, is there any reason to own any platformer besides Mario?

How many FPS/Sports games do some people own? Just because you have one, doesn't mean you wouldn't enjoy another one that has its own take. Hell, I would argue that its far more stupid to buy Madden every year as it is almost identical to the year before.

Plus, none of those HD FPS games have the customization or controls that The Conduit is reported to have. So, even if its just another FPS that won't look as good as the latest HD counterparts, its still a better game for many of us who prefer controls over shiny objects when given a choice.

Hell I still wish I kept my Battlefield 2 game whereas I sold CoD:Modern Warfare after a week of playing it. The controls sucked in comparison and they were both PC versions. But, technically CoDMW was prettier.

It's quite hard to explain the feeling of playing a FPS on the Wii for the first time, especially to an HD gamer who won't give the Wii a chance. Try it out.

The reason why its so hyped is because it won a bunch of awards back at E3 2008. Heck that's the only reason I know it. The game will be awsome.

The controls are the main draw.
