Forums - Nintendo - Anyone have a explaination for the Zelda Timeline.

They had a great chance to have one and tie everything together. I really wished they would somehow. At least loosely with some strong dynamic connections between a few. They started to with Wind Waker from Ocarina of Time, but then they dropped the ball with Twilight Princess. So now, I don't know which end is up.

Here's another riddle for you.  Can you put a timeline to the Mario Brothers games?

Around the Network

hi everyone, yes i know i'm new but i've been an avid zelda fan since link to the past and i had to create an account just to input into this debate.

basically i just wanted to point out that in TP there was a sign or person who actually tells you that the land was covered by water which leads me to believe that TP takes place after WW which rules out the dual timeline theory

i may be wroing but could someone try finding out if this is correct or not

I don't think even the Zelda game creators know the true timeline.

If it isn't turnbased it isn't worth playing   (mostly)

And shepherds we shall be,

For Thee, my Lord, for Thee. Power hath descended forth from Thy hand, That our feet may swiftly carry out Thy command. So we shall flow a river forth to Thee And teeming with souls shall it ever be. In Nomine Patris, et Filii, et Spiritūs Sancti. -----The Boondock Saints

I have read some interesting time line theories regarding Zelda. Here is how the truth abou the Zelda time line is.

The various Zelda games do have an order where they take place in regards to a Hyrulean history.

OoT
MM
WW, PH
TP
....
LttP
Zelda
AoL

blah blah blah

However there is an important fact to this. There is little in regards to hard historical connection that their is a solid order of game time line.

Many large scale events occur in the Zelda games, mostly in regards to OoT, LttP, Zelda and AoL. Improsining War(wich really wasn't a war), descendents of the oracles(lttp), Ganon being free(Zelda NES) and the end of the series(AoL).

The dual timeline while probably the best of the theories is in fact just a shoehorn method to bind the game series. Miyamoto has admited that each Zelda really is it's own universe of Zelda. Miyamoto and now Anomura will scrap continuity in favor of the current game story and play. Though Anamura does care a little more on doing some binding(picture of the fisherman from OoT in TP), Town names in AoL matching Oracles from OoT.

It's taken me 5 years to admit that their is no factual timeline, but that's the truth of it. Is it fun yes. For fun I have done a Zelda PnP rpg and shoe horned a timeline, but I do accept that their isn't a real one.

Squilliam: On Vgcharts its a commonly accepted practice to twist the bounds of plausibility in order to support your argument or agenda so I think its pretty cool that this gives me the precedent to say whatever I damn well please.
