Forums - Gaming - I bought Madworld, House of the Dead and Resi 5! Which is better?

You called Resi 5 a Gears of war clone, leading me to believe you haven't played it. The only thing it and Gears of War have in common are over the shoulder views and guns.

I have finished the game, maybe you haven't really played it?

- Over the shoulder camera (also in the excellent RE4)

- Muscular, macho character hero

- Take cover and out mechanic (although only at specific parts)

- Environment and style is miles away from classic RE even RE4, approaches futuristic, similar colour pallet

- No puzzles whatsoever

All of the above points are in GoW, not necessarily exclusive in GoW as they can be seen in other modern FPS.

Take cover mechanic hardly exists in the game, those "specific parts" are only on the last parts of the last levels.

RE4 was based in Spain. RE5 is based in Africa, and the place looks run down and zombified. No, it doesn't have tons of fog; the 360 and PS3s capabilities don't need pop-in. And again, the futuristic parts only exist in the last levels, and Gears isnt a futuristic game even at that.

There were much less puzzles then RE 1-3, but about the same with RE4.

In gears, EVERYONE was macho. Chris is pretty much the only one here.

Lol, I can show you my gamer tag if you think I haven't played it. I'm still wondering about you.

And Gears is still far and away extremely different from RE5.

GOTY Contestants this year: Dead Space 2, Dark Souls, Tales of Graces f. Everything else can suck it.

That's why I merely said in the OP "tending to become" a GoW clone. It has obvious similarities that you're not willing to acknowledge. The game is teeming with nods to Capcom's obsession of Westernizing the franchise.

Resident evil though I would say that madworld was a good game. resident evil has what should make it better IMOB (graphics, online co-op, and trophies), but lacks in the one department that makes madworld a step better (gameplay). If I could move while shooting in resident evil I would be totally like "this is the winner by a land slide", but because of this I would have to say I would give a slight edge to madworld. Only thing that would have made madworld overall a better game is if it would have supported some higher resolutions (this game needs hd muscle bad) and imagine trophy support for it.........gold trophy score 100 decapitations in story mode.

So you're celebrating not being a soldier anymore by buying shooters and violent games? :P

Anyway you make some fair points, but giving RE an 8.5 after what you said about it? I would give it a 7 or something.
