Since the PS3 update to PS3, I have been thinking about when the last time PSP saw an update. After a little research I discovered that the last update to the system was 5.03, which occured on January 20th. Digging a little deeper, I found that the last signifigant update to the PSP came all the way back on October 13, 2008. That was update 5.0 which brought PSN accounts, and the Playstation store to PSP.

Now, knowing Sony this long drought of firmware updates could mean nothing, but I think it is something interesting to take into account. Perhapps they are going to have some very awsome new features to drop on us come E3. One can only hope this is the case, and they won't just come out with 5.10 next week, and give us;

-Some sections under options have been changed. Compatability with some PSP software has been enhanced.

All we can do for now is just wait and see. Just for speculation, what would the VGC community like to see from a new PSP update?

I will go ahead and give my list of wanted PSP features, now that I don't have to write
for every line break.

First and formost, I want the PSP-4000 to have 3G. Off-topic, but considering I have an iPhone, unless the PSP can be my cell phone it is nearly worthless as a travel companion. I only have so many pockets to carry, everything. Now onto firmware;

-In game XMB
-Freinds list/Trophies
-Addition of (all PSP games, Movies section, and Music section) for the Playstation store
-Ability to create playlists on the fly.
-Updated web browser.
-Remote Play that actually works (this feature could be huge if PSP could connect anywhere)
-Calendar software for schedualing
-Home (if I could access Home from anywere, it would make the service a lot more interesting, as I could hop on during lunch which is right when most of my friends are on since I work second shift)

More, PS3 than PSP, but would really help PSP;

-wireless photo, movie, and music transfer (I can just hook it up and transfer the files if I want, so I don't see why having the option to do it wirelessly is that big a deal)
-Video's transfered to PSP automatically reformat to be PSP compatable

Network side updates;

-PSP videos from PSP store should be 480x272(the 320x240 gametrailers do not do the screen or the games they are promoting any credit. It actually turns people off when you try to show a gametrailer to someone on the PSP. I guess this is just another part of the excellent job Sony's marketing team does)

Those are the tings that would get me back into taking my PSP with me everywhere I go.
