Forums - Nintendo - Virtua Tennis 2009 or Grand Slam Tennis

I'm a Virtua Tennis guy, but I've always been a fan of the series. :)

It does offer online support, and it sounds like there may be a really cool competitive tournament mode. The crazy Mini-games are one of the things I've enjoyed since Dreamcast VT, I am glad to see those coming back.

The first dev diary trailer went out recently (the one porkchop mentioned): http://www.gametrailers.com/player/47600.html

Obviously the Wii won't look as good as the 360 or PS3, but for me it's all about the gameplay...

Around the Network

I read the preview on IGn about VT, and it does sound promising, though they didn't mention M+ support, and that is a big selling point for me. Both are said to have robust online experiences, so that's a plus. As of right now, GST is a must buy for me, and I see it as one of EA's most promising Wii titles. VT, I'd like to get more info before I put it on the must buy list, but it won't take much. The realistic approach (in terms of graphics) is something I'd like to see how they pull it off on Wii, as I think the system is capable of more than its been credited. So we'll see. If VT also has M+, well I'll be buying both. But hopefully you won't be going wrong with either one.

Bet between Slimbeast and Arius Dion about Wii sales 2009:

If the Wii sells less than 20 million in 2009 (as defined by VGC sales between week ending 3d Jan 2009 to week ending 4th Jan 2010) Slimebeast wins and get to control Arius Dion's sig for 1 month.

If the Wii sells more than 20 million in 2009 (as defined above) Arius Dion wins and gets to control Slimebeast's sig for 1 month.

Many pretenders have come and FALLEN to the mighty Virtua tennis series.

Only one winner here............. Virtua tennis 2009

Grand Slam Tennis look more realistic

Just compared some screenshots of both... I personally think VT is by far the winner on graphics:

It's hard to see all the details in the VT shot since it's a bit small, but besides the players, take a look at the crowd in both shots and you'll see what I mean.(Blank paper cut-outs as opposed to textured 3D people)

Even so, I enjoyed VT on Dreamcast because it was really fast and fun to play with my friends. (Many a night spent playing 2v2 doubles...) I have seen a little bit of VT on PS3 here in the office, and it looks really good in that sense. Can't wait to check it out on Wii and see how the motion controls are.

I don't know what you like. However, I was never a big fan of the arcade type style that Virtua Tennis 3 offered.

I think it all depends on game play and if it's fun for you. I love tennis games and I haven't decided which one to get either. Good luck with your decision.
