Forums - Sony - New Sony walkman:Ipod shuffle killer?

looks damn cool BUT I lost all interest in mp3 players just like I lost interest for digital cameras , I prefer to have them all in one device called a cell phone
I know it won't be as good as the separate  mp3 player nor the separate camera but still I prefer it:

^ Agreed. Too bad a2dp bluetooth headphones are still so expensive.

I agree, and that is why these for $70 seems like a hell of a deal to me.

Come on now! 90m of playback on a 3 minute charge? O.o

12 hours of playback on a 1-1 1/2 hour charge? O.o

Yeah, my problem with sony's music products is that you need third party software to get them to play nice with itunes. Since I have a mac this makes it even worse as Sony doesn't make mac software for their walkman products. I have a walkman phone and the software (itunemywalkman) is kinda flaky.

You can't just plug in it with the usb and just drag and drop your files with a mac?

yeah, but then the songs aren't organized by artist, genre, album, etc. they're all in one big folder and you have to sift through them.

Gotcha. Fortunately for me I don't listen to too much music so whatever I have I just drag and drop.

If it was called an Ipod it would be great...

Not at all.

Get it because it isn't called an iPod. Be different.

iPods are over rated and over priced.

Nope. Tell me something that is better than the IPOD touch??

Joggers and gym goers run around with a big iPod touch in their pockets? O.o

Also, if I am looking for just a music player why would I drop $200-400 on one and then need to pick up expensive bluetooth headphones?

I am going to browse the net while working out? O.o

Point here is iPod shuffle vs Walman nwz-w202 and sorry if you think otherwise but $70 for the shuffle + wired earbuds is over priced compared to what it shown here. To get the same effect you would need $70 for the shuffle and then another $50-70 for BT headphones.

Does the shuffle even have BT?

@Squilliam

Ok, I guess I didn't see what you meant.

I agree, if it was called an iPod it would sell like hotcakes.

I won't be picking the touchscreen walkman but I hear it has built-in headphone-independent noise cancellation. That is a pretty cool feature. Prevents you from needing to shell out the cash for very expensive noise cancellation headphones.

I doubt it's an iAnything killer, Apple has had a pretty good grip on the portable MP3 player market for a while now and until someone can make something that even comes close to rivaling the iPhone and iTouch, the iStuff is staying on top.

Well maybe not in sales but in terms of this vs the shuffle I think it is without a doubt a much more quality product for the same price.

Did you check the video in the link I provided above on the OLED touchscreen walkman? I am sure it does all that the Touch does plus more. I am sure it is also about the same price as the Touch.
