I just discovered Excite Truck. It's a blast!
Keep this in mind when reading what I type...
I've been gaming longer than many of you have been alive.

Really? Have you played it recently? You know games can look really good through rosey nostalgia goggles. The combo system was broken/awful in that game. |
well recently i havent play it. but i remember a lot. i know that the combo system may be weird. at the beginning i didnt like it either but after some time it turned out really great. once you get the hand of it is really awesome. besides the gameplay is something unique and innovative. the graphics were amazing and the CGI ufffff the best i have ever seen in my life. the story is epic. i cried a lot jajaja. and the game have voice acting¡¡¡. i think it was the only PS1 game that i have played that have voice acting. for me the art style is incredible. i really loved the cities and the dungeons.

Gears 2? Didn't it sell about 4-5 million and garner a meta-score of around 94? That's not underrated in my book. |
thats true, but i hear a lot more negativity about it than positive things from people that bought it. it did get good reviews, but a lot of players said that it has a shitty online process which i haven't had many problems with. they also nitpicked the story and boss fights but i have enjoyed every aspect of the game. a lot of people seemed to be more interested in left 4 dead which i found to be overrated. i only know one friend that really plays gow 2 a lot aside from me.

Can't really say for sure without thinking it over for a long, long time... Though I definitely think that Disaster: Day of Crisis deserves mention.
The sonic adventure games.
"Pier was a chef, a gifted and respected chef who made millions selling his dishes to the residents of New York City and Boston, he even had a famous jingle playing in those cities that everyone knew by heart. He also had a restaurant in Los Angeles, but not expecting LA to have such a massive population he only used his name on that restaurant and left it to his least capable and cheapest chefs. While his New York restaurant sold kobe beef for $100 and his Boston restaurant sold lobster for $50, his LA restaurant sold cheap hotdogs for $30. Initially these hot dogs sold fairly well because residents of los angeles were starving for good food and hoped that the famous name would denote a high quality, but most were disappointed with what they ate. Seeing the success of his cheap hot dogs in LA, Pier thought "why bother giving Los Angeles quality meats when I can oversell them on cheap hotdogs forever, and since I don't care about the product anyways, why bother advertising them? So Pier continued to only sell cheap hotdogs in LA and was surprised to see that they no longer sold. Pier's conclusion? Residents of Los Angeles don't like food."
"The so-called "hardcore" gamer is a marketing brainwashed, innovation shunting, self-righteous idiot who pays videogame makers far too much money than what is delivered."

I made it up to the final boss. The story was really th only thing that game had going for it...and the cool dragoon armor.
Summon Night (GBA & DS games) Riviera the Promise Land(GBA), Fire Emblem: Sacred Stones(not sure if it counts) and Disgaea 3
Well those are the games that I own that I think are pretty underrated
