Forums - Nintendo - What is the best DS RPG title?

C'mon people, fill this thread up. I'm looking for a traditional JRPG on the DS. I'm mostly and ARPG/SRPG whore, but I like a decent traditional, turn-based RPG every now and again.

I wish those DS Tales games were released over here...

Ken! Kenology, where is your DS collection!? How can we recommend you good things if you do not have one filledo ut!?

That's imossible to say. But with: (no order)

1. Chrono Trigger
2. Final Fantasy IV
3. Dragon Quest V
4. The World Ends With You
5. Dragon Quest IV
6. Fire Emblem Shadow Dragon
7. Final Fantasy Tactics
8. Suikoden Tierkreis

Haven't played them all, but the DS is an (S/J)RPG monster. No fan of the genre can say he/she doesn't have a DS.

Is DQV that good, Benga? I think I might pick up a copy with a DSi...

Mine
1. Chrono Trigger
2. Tales of Hearts Anime version (played JPN)
3. Devil Survivor (played JPN)
4. The World Ends With You
5. Fire Emblem Shadow Dragon
6. Mario and Luigi 3 !!!(Played JPN)

Yea, shame Namco Bandai for not releasing English version for Tales of Innocent and Tales of Hearts.

Currently Playing: Devil Survivor 2 (NDS)

I'm only 10 hours in, but it's fabulous. Maybe even better than FF4. It is Dragon Quest though, so it's quite slow and static, but the story and atmosphere is wonderfull. It's has a very unique tone that's unlike any other game, almost fairytale like.

Definitely a great purchase.

Fair enough.  Here you go:

Games I own:

New Super Mario Bros.

The Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass

Fire Emblem: Shadow Dragon

Valkyrie Profile: Covenant of the Plume

Avalon Code

Pile of Shame :

Professor Layton and the Curious Village

Hotel Dusk: Room 215

Final Fantasy Tactics A2: Grimoire of the Rift

Henry Hatsworth and the Puzzling Adventure

So I assume your pile of shame is games you haven't played yet.

Kenology, good sir, do pick up FFIV. It... it is worth it.

@Benga:

Daaaaamn. Well.... that sounds good. I don't mind slow pacing, as long as the battle speed can be cranked up like in IV.

...I'll buy it!

Oh and keep this in mind when making recommendations... I can't stand random battles. I like the Tales of/Chrono Trigger approach of seeing the enemy on the map and choosing to engage them for the most part.
