Forums - Gaming - Only 6% of PS3 owners have bought Killzone 2

Can we get a ban on anybody that uses hiphopgamershow for a source?

Anyways, I don't have Killzone 2. I'm probably not getting it until later on in the generation. I am not big on shooters. I also don't own Call of Duty Modern Warfare or World At War. I also don't own Halo 3. I own haze by a fluke in logic and I like Resistance because I enjoy the story. Otherwise, I don't think all PS3 owners are as guncrazy as 360 owners. ;)

+1 to the bolded

It should be remember that there are 3m+ consoles in areas where Killzone 2 can't be played, and shouldn't ever be expected to.

It is a little dissapointing that PS3 owners have not gotten behind this game. Without a doubt it is the best FPS I have played on PS3, or 360 so far this gen. I think the thing is, most people are not into this mild scifi setting, and Sony did not market it well enough to give them reason to be interested. Halo, and Call of Duty have always done great because they are set to take advantage of mainstream appeal. Killzone is just not in that typical, current day, world war 2, or fantasy setting that most people are drawn to.

I think Sony will be happy with the sales of the game in the end though. They are just continueing to do what has always made Playstation the best selling platform. Make games for all types of people. Playstation will never have a mascot, because Sony has never went to the public, and said this is what defines Playstation. If they were to do this with any of their big games I think they could easly move 5 - 10 million copies. It just seems that is not the plan for Playstation.

90% of ps3 owners bought ps3 to watch blu ray?? care to give a proof? and is this also the reason why RE5 and SF4 sold more on ps3 despite having a smaller userbase?

+1  I am thinking more like the difference in user base is not as large as vg chartz and npd have speculated.  If everyone who rrod bought a back up 360 while waiting for there used unit to come back from microsoft, then that would account for why must multiplats lately have been more in favor of the ps3.  The amount of consoles that have people buying software is actually smaller than the actual user base as a whole (most people do not buy multiple copies of games when they have more than one system, etc, etc).

Replacment units for RROD are one thing - those who buy X360 to play on it without paying for their games are other reason why real userbases aren't that diffrent :D

And as for Kiillzone low numbers - imho it proves that ps3 userbase is much more diverse and that people who love console FPSes already choosen X360 aka shooter box.

There's some truth in that I believe.  PS3 has a more even spread of its install base across Japan, Others & US than 360, which is very US/UK skewed.  I'm not sure PS3 owners are more diverse as such though, just that they're tastes are more evenly spread in percentage terms vs a large percentage of 360 owners really liking FPS/TPS particularly online.

Add that to the fact than in US, perhaps the region where FPS/TPS on a console is the most prevelant, the 360 has much more of those gamers sewn up already, and you can see why an FPS on PS3 isn't going to match sales of a comparable FPS on 360 - at least not right now anyway.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...

There will no doubt be a couple of explanations for this. First, one could argue that the game has just come out a month ago, therefore it takes time for the amount of owners to grow. This argument fails being that as the amount of KZ2 owners grow, the amount of the install base also grows, therefore the percentage stays the same.
That was so wrong that my brain exploded.

Yep.

Numbers are like weapons: if you don't know how to handle them, you better leave them untouched.

I seriously don't think that's it. People will buy any game that's good. The hardcore will be the first ones to get it, then word-of-mouth will help it spread throughout the casuals.

Everytime I show this game to a friend, they get turned off by the controls. Besides that though, many things in this game just arn't-casual friendly, especially unlocking certain things. Friends that wanna play together will find it pretty hard since KZ2 lacks a party system. When they finally find a server that lets select the same team, the match has a chance of being ruined because of imbalance.

Alot of my friends also haven't even heard of Killzone 2. Brandname helps alot.
