Of course as long as its something Nintendo won't or can't have, HUS is going to act like its the most important thing in the world. |
True but judging by this post you seem to act the opposite way. |
Are MMOs popular, yes, but still a niche genre which is made accessable largely by convenience of PC gaming so you'll forgive me if I or anyone else doesn't see MMOs as being synonymous with the future of console gaming. And this isn't just MMOs we're talking about, this is Square- Enix MMOs which just makes this insult to injury. When MMOs become an irreplaceable halmark of console gaming then I'll wag my finger at Nintendo, until then I think I'll sleep soundly another night. |
LMFAP niche genere... wow has what 9/10 million people playing ity ahh really niche. And FPS were synonymous with PC gaming, then Halo happend. |
A Niche genre on the console market yes.
And can square garantee Nintendo a Halo of the MMO genre? I'm sure you'd like to think so, but if Square can't even do a successful MMO with Final Fantasy brand name (FFXI) why the hell should Nintendo give them the time of day when all they want to do is to cash in on Nintendo's underbase to help out a game they want to succeed the most on the PS3?
Besides the MMO genre already has its Halo, it's called WOW.
MMOs are also currently the success they are largely because of the convenience of the PC, by virture of the sheer number of PCs on the market vs Consoles. An MMO on a console could never duplicate the success of EQ or WOW.
Do MMOs have a future on consoles, certainly, but they certainly aren't a force to be reckoned with now. What Nintendo has done is act decisively and prudently looking out for their own interests and doing an excellent job of it. Square is the company backing a flopping console (PS3) and is also the company who has found itself staring down bankrupcy more than once. Forgive me if I back Nintendo on this clash of wills.
I'm sure you'll insist Nintendo is doomed and this is another nail in their coffin, but you're also the same person who says Lair is an awesome game so why should anyone listen to you?
