If you exclude handhelds , then yes. If your a huge jrpg fan then the 360 is the best choice.

If MGS4 can only bump the PS3 to 77k how do you expect GT5 do do anything substantial ...?

and before you say MGS is nothing in Japan, the previous MGS games topped around 800k there ... not far off the 1 million for GT you mentioned.

As for FF ... all the people that buy VS will buy the other one ... or whichever one is out first ... it wont be 1.5M million for 13 then another 1.5M for VS

Judging from the sales of FFX and FFXII, FFXIII should sale far more than 1.5 million copies, so if both FF Versus XIII and XIII only do 3 million each and only sell to to same people, that's still at least 1.5 million to add to the PS3's number plus 500,000 for GT5, so that still puts the PS3 at  a 5:1 ratio against the 360 in Japan.  Which might not be 7:1 but that is still a pretty bad figure against the 360 considering it probably won't get a top notch Japanese exclusive for the rest of the gen following that.  And, as a matter of fact, we're seeing at a 3:1 ratio for the PS3 in Japan many of the 360's exclusives are no longer 360 exclusives see Vesperia and NG II both announced ad headed to the PS3 in the past week.

Or you know the majority of people who wanted FF bought a PS3 yonks ago, and those that wanted it for GT5 bought it with the prolouge?

Enchanted Arms and Eternal Sonata got ported to the PS3 way before the Sony console had a 3:1 advantage over the 360.

How about you respond to the point of my previous post in which I said that the 360's install base in Japan was, is and will be pretty much irrelevant for the decisions of publishers? You should know that nearly all of those former 360 exclusives were moneyhatted by Microsoft. That's a more important factor than install bases in Japan.

Yeah, the 360's install base will be pretty much irrelevant to publishers in Japan because they will have seen from Tales of Vesperia and Star Ocean that Japanese games just don't generate much money in Japan on the 360 in regards to what they do and will have the potential to do on the PS3 over there at the end of this year when the PS3 to 360 ration in Japan will be 5-7:1.  So after FF Versus XIII releases in June of 2010 exclusively on PS3 in Japan there will be no more exclusive jrpgs coming to the 360.

The J man loves how you call 360 rpgs mediocre when the fact is ps3 rpgs are abysmal. There is absolutly no comparison right now which console has the advantage in both quality and quantity with respect to jrpgs.

And what counter parts does the ps3 have for BD , LO and IU?

Quality Wise Valkyria Chronicles owns each and every one of those games.

"In video game terms, RPGs are games that involve a form of separate battles taking place with a specialized battle system and the use of a system that increases your power through a form of points.

Sure, what you say is the definition, but the connotation of RPGs is what they are in video games." - dtewi

      No, it itsn't.

The best jrpg to have been released in the West so far this gen is Valkyrie Chronicle which is exclusive to the PS3.  None of the 360's jrpgs even measure up to most of the jrpgs that are still being released on PS2 inclduing the Persona games and the latest Ar Tonelico game.  And of upcoming JRPG's, the best version of Final Fantasy XIII will be on the PS3, Final Fantasy Versus XIII is exclusive to the PS3 right now (and even if it winds up not being exclusive in the West like FF XIII, its best version would still be on PS3), and they will both be far superior to any JRPG that has released so far this gen.

And the Wii is actually getting better jrpgs than the 360 has:  Rune Factory, Kizuna, Arc Rise Fantasia, Muramasa, and Dragon Warrior X.

Plus Kingdom Hearts 3 will be either going to the PS3 or Wii and whichever one of those two receives KH3 will wind up being this gen's King of JRPGs.

The numbers don't back up your "wish", a 5:1 ratio must be:

6.5 Millions for the PS3

1.3 Millions for the 360

A 7:1 ratio should look like:

9.1 Millions for the PS3

1.3 Millions for the 360

Look at the front page and try to think about it for a few minutes...
