Just thought id add some more info on Insomniac.

Insomniac never owned the Spyro IP -- they made the games for Universal who outsourced the publishing to SONY.

After Insomniac's 3 game contract was up, Insomniac decided to skip the middleman and have SONY publish their next game directly. They needed to crate a new IP since they don't own the Spyro IP. So R&C was born.

For PS3 Insomniac decided to make a new IP (Resistance) but also continue R&C (due to demand from the fans). Thus a cycle of 1 resistance and 1 ratchet game every 2 years was born - but edited when Insomniac decided to make R&C: Q4B for PSN. Which bring us to where they are now.

Interesting. Thank you for that snippet of information.

Well, you mentioned that Universal owned Spyro, but not much more than that. You didn't really give any insight into it all or anything, so...

Universal owns Crash, too, if it matters...

That's an interesting pattern. I guess the reason they stop making the old ones is to get out before they drop from popularity.

Naughty dog could have probably made more Crash Bandicoots (at least 3 more) assuming they're up to Naughty Dog standards. It was the guys after Naughty Dog who totally fucked up Crash's reputation.

Insomniac has only developed 6 Ratchet & Clank games (4 for PS2 and 2 for PS3, with another along the way for PS3), since the two PSP ones were made by High Impact Games. There have been four Jak & Daxter universe games made by Naughty Dog (all for PS2, with one not being a traditional Jak game, i.e. Jak X). Daxter for the PSP was made by Ready at Dawn, while the new PSP/PS2 one is being made by High Impact Games. Outside of those games, each company has made two other PS3 games, or in the process of making them (Resistance and Uncharted).
