I'm hoping that this is an isolated case. Something like this is the last thing the PS3 needs since one of its main draws over the 360 is its reliability.

Wierd no problem when I downloaded it. seems to be an issue with cookies and Java from what I read. Wasn't really many people on the forum talking about it. It seems like a few few have had the problem . Even some of those poster seemed a bit ingenuine to say the least. Hope every thing gets cleared up soon for the folks it did affect though not playing Warhawk sucks.

Meh, the online is never reliable for me when over WiFi, when I was connected via WiFi it took about 30 minutes to download that update, and often full games can take hours to download.

So, I done a little test and downloaded the PS3s latest firmware to my PC and it took just over 2 minutes, what the HELL is going on here, my PS3 at the time was about 5 meters away from the router, I have 8mBit (so, technically, I can download 1mb of data a second) and the router is a 54mb via WiFi. Also, when playing over WiFi my PS3 always looses connection. I have 4 laptops (one running Vista, one running Linux and two running XP) and they all connect to the WiFi easily and there are no speed issues, so it's certainly not the router.

Any suggestions?

In regards to bricking my internet since the update, I'm going to respond 'no', but tbh all I've played since the update is Warhawk and that's got so many problems anyway I just couldn't tell.

EDIT: For the record, I'm from the EU

I'm in the US, I updated yesterday and then went directly to Warhawk afterwards. Sure, the internet connection here isn't that great and there is the server problems right now in warhawk, but I was able to play it.
