Forums - Sony - PSP

I've not been keeping track of the PSP really for quite some time now and cannot believe that 46m+ has shifted WW.  Yeah it's still some way behind the DS, but it really has done well considering.

How much longer do we think the PSP will be on the market and how much more sales will it get?

Prediction (June 12th 2017)

Permanent pricedrop for both PS4 Slim and PS4 Pro in October.

PS4 Slim $249 (October 2017)

PS4 Pro $349 (October 2017)

Dunno about how long it'll be on the market because of the whole PSP-4000 or PSP2 rumors for this year?

But I would have to guess and say that PSP should be able to hit 70 - 80 million, fantastic number, the PSP is the first ever handheld to actually somewhat compete with the a Nintendo handheld.

Sony's next handheld might actually be able to top Nintendo's next handheld.

I suspect PSP2 rumours are about as accurate as 'PS3 price drop in March' ones. In other words, PSP-4000 in the Fall, but no PSP2 for a long, long time.

If they do release a PSP-4000 and similar to the design people keep showing im sure the PSP will be on the market a lot longer.

I think the PSP has a few more years until the next iteration.

I mean it's still pretty popular(it's no DS),but I think it could have a few more Monster Hunter type games(sales-wise) until it's dead.

I'm actually thinking of pick one up pretty soon.

PSP is doing awesome. Its really picking up lately. The DS is also doing awesome, but its kinda hard to claim that the PSP is doing poorly, since... its not. The DS audience may be a bunch larger, but the PSP audience is pretty dang big, and it keeps on growing, just like the DS.

I adore my PSP-2000... although I may sell it when the 4000 comes out, if its as spiffy as the rumors have speculated.

Yeah, I really love my 2000 as well.

I think it could be around for up to another 4 years. I would agree with the 70-80 million figure, maybe slightly more.

i would say 2 years after that sony will announce/release PSP2
